This upcoming weekend is the Semi Final weekend for the 2019 Statewide Cup competitions. A place in the Monday June 10 Cup Finals Day, looms for the victors, so who will make their way to the biggest stage in Tasmanian Football?
In the Lakoseljac Cup, the 2016 and 2018 Champions Devonport, will be heavy favourites to make a third final in four years, but they will have to overcome the underdogs University, who have made an inspired charge to the final. On Sunday at Darcy Street, the latest instalment of the great modern rivalry between South Hobart and Olympia is on show, with the FFA Cup just 2 games away.
In the Women's Statewide Cup Semis, the current Women's Super League pacesetters Olympia, meet the 2018 finalists, Kingborough Lions in a rematch of the Summer Cup Final. That particular contest was a tight affair and ended 1-0 in favour of the Warriors after extra time was played. Then on Sunday in the North, Northern Rangers look to continue their surprise run by knocking off the 2017 Champion Hobart Zebras and ensuring a Championship side will be represented on the Final day.
Rangers will also be represented in the Statewide Under 20 Cup, where they take on Beachside in a surprise Semi Final match up. Olympia will be raging hot favourites to win the Cup, having eliminated South Hobart in the Quarter Finals, but they now face a road trip to take on Launceston City.
