Summer Cup Fixtures

The Summer Cup Fixtures have been released for 2020, with the first major silverware up for grabs for Clubs in what are sure to be an entertaining tournaments, as clubs unveil their new look playing groups. The Men's Division A competition, is set to kick off on Friday 31 January with a clash between Glenorchy Knights and the Olympia Warriors at KGV. In exciting news, this fixture will be refereed by former English Premier League referee, Bobby Madley, who will be in the State for the 2020 Statewide Refereeing conference that will be staged the next day. The Men's Division A competition will see the five Southern based NPL clubs will compete in a round robin, with every side playing each other once and the top two sides then playing off in the March 14th decider. With many clubs playing games against interstate sides as they dial up their preparation for the 2020 NPL season, the fixtures have been scheduled around these dates. The Northern based NPL sides opted to decline the invitation to participate. The Women's Summer Cup will kick off on Sunday 16 February, with the defending champions Olympia taking on Beachside. The side the Warriors defeated in the thrilling 2019 decider, the Kingborough Lions have also been drawn in Group A, along with South Hobart. Group B contains just the three sides, with the Clarence Zebras set to play their first ever game against University, with Taroona the third side in the group. The two group winners will then meet in the Cup Final, which will be one of the marquee days in Female Football Week. The new look Southern Championship competition will get underway with a Summer Series starting on February 9, with New Town, South Hobart, Metro and Kingborough forming group A. Whilst Taroona, South East United, Olympia and Beachside make up group B. There will be no cup final, with the games serving as warm up matches for the Southern Championship competition which gets underway on Saturday 7 March to accommodate the extended season.
