Three of Tasmania’s finest football referees have been nominated for selection to Football Australia’s national referee panel, which would see them officiate A-League and W-League matches if appointed.
The three referees have also been selected to officiate this weekend’s Lakoseljac Cup final between Devonport Strikers and Glenorchy Knights.
Brenton Kopra, who will take charge of the middle in the Lakoseljac Cup final has been nominated to be selected as an A-League referee, while Thomas Mace and Claire Green have been nominated as assistant referees for the A-League and W-League respectively.

Football Tasmania Referee Manager Tony Peart said the referees’ continued excellence over a number of years was deserving of recognition.
“Brenton, Thomas and Claire have proven they are all outstanding officials in their own right, and thoroughly deserve the opportunity to be identified to referee on the national stage,” Mr Peart said.

“It’s the first time Tasmania has ever had three nominations to the panel in the same year, which is a great reflection of the quality of refereeing in the state.
“The selection process is run by Football Australia, who will now assess the Tasmanian nominees over the coming months as they officiate matches in Tasmania and in other states, potentially as part of the FFA Cup.
“While competition will be strong across Australia with only a limited number of places on the panel available, I’m confident Brenton, Thomas and Claire have what it takes to make it at the next level.
“I wish them all the very best, and look forward to seeing them in action together this weekend as they take charge of one of the highlights on the Tasmanian football calendar, the Lakoseljac Cup final.”
