Tasmanians Level Up with Expert-Led Coaching and Football Education

Football Tasmania continues to invest in coach education, providing opportunities for coaches across the state to develop their skills, expand their knowledge and learn from experienced professionals.

The State Coaching Conference at KGV brought coaches together for a day of learning and discussion, featuring insights from Ron Smith, Ian Greener and our very own Alfred Hess. Football Tasmania’s Technical Director James Sherman praised the strong interest in the event, highlighting the growing demand for coach development across Tasmania.

Meanwhile, candidates in Football Tasmania’s B Diploma completed two days of practical learning at Launceston United Soccer Club, delivering 20 coaching sessions with support from more than 30 young players from local clubs. The weekend also included goal-scoring analysis, additional learning modules and communication training.

Specialist education was also on offer through the Foundation of Goalkeeping course, led by experienced goalkeeper Melissa Maizels. Participants enjoyed a full day of learning, building their confidence and developing their goalkeeper coaching skills.

Together, these initiatives demonstrate Football Tasmania’s ongoing commitment to strengthening coaching pathways and supporting the continued development of players, coaches and clubs across the state.

With more courses and development opportunities on the horizon, Football Tasmania remains committed to investing in the quality of coaching across the state. By upskilling local coaches, expanding access to expert-led education and strengthening development pathways, we’re helping equip Tasmania’s football community with the knowledge and skills needed to support the next generation of players.
