Vale: James “Jimmy” Dolliver, 12 July 1934 – 27 May 2017

It is with deep regret that we announce the sad passing of Jimmy Dolliver, a stalwart of the Tasmanian football family and a much loved figure. Jimmy was a staunch servant of the game and enjoyed an illustrious playing career with South Hobart in the 1950s and 60s, going to represent Tasmanian. When he retired from playing he didn’t hang up his boots but instead turned his passion to refereeing. Jimmy (along with Ron Spence and Bob Stelfox) were instrumental in establishing the SOCCER FORUM, an innovative monthly in-season magazine for local soccer enthusiasts produced by the Hobart Sub-Division of the Referee’s Federation in the early 1970s. In later life Jimmy enjoyed lawn bowls and was a proud father and supporter of Linnette and Clifton when they played with Metro during the 1980's. He was also team manager for the Metro senior team when Walter Pless was coach n 1980/81 as well as a club committee member. Jimmy was a true gentleman of the game, on and off the field. He is remembered fondly and we pass on our deepest sympathy to his wife, Laurett and family.
