Many of you would be aware that Kieren Whitehouse, Captain of the senior men’s team at the Somerset Sharks, was tragically killed in a car accident last Thursday night. On behalf of the Board and staff of Football Tasmania, and indeed the entire football family, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Shania, his extended family, and all the members of the club – in particular his team mates.
Kieren was a wonderful young man who contributed to the club in so many ways, both on and off the field. He was a great club man who coached youth teams, helped at club working bees and led and supported his team mates right throughout the club at Somerset.
This is obviously a very difficult time for everyone who was close to him. To acknowledge Kieren’s tragic passing we will ask that a minute’s silence be observed prior to every match this weekend.
