Warriors Roll Past Beachside

The Olympia Warriors have moved onto the final four of the Women's Statewide Cup as they smashed Beachside 7-0 in their Quarter Final clash. Beachside were forced down to 10 players early in the game after a sending off in the 18th minute as Josi Gargioni was sent to the changing rooms after a deliberate hand ball in the box. A penalty was awarded and subsequently saved by keeper Amy Coward. Beachside looked to still be in the game at this stage, holding the Warriors at bay for the first half with only 10 players.  After the half time break, the Warriors were looking to seal their victory with an all out savage assault. Olivia Bomford with a chip over the keeper made it 2-0, followed almost immediately by an easy cross into the goal by Bonnie Davies, making it 3-0. Olympia flicked the switch after half time, increasing their score by three goals in the space of 6 minutes, leaving Beachside overwhelmed. The pace of the game at this stage slowed down somewhat and gave the impression Beachside were already defeated. A constant set-play pattern from Mady Black to Mady Chambers on the flank subsequently brought goal after goal for Olympia as they surged forward with Bonnie Davies in the right place at the right time slotting in an easy cross from Chambers. Followed by a sensational hit by Leah Gubb, her second of the game which looped over the keeper and into the back of the net. The scoreline looking grim for Beachside was now set at 6 goals to 0. The final goal of the day came from Charlotte Chambers, after a well targeted cross from Olivia Bomford landed at the feet of Chambers who caught the keeper by surprise, slotting in the seventh goal of the game.
