Warriors Rout South

The Olympia Warriors continued their strong start to the Super League season, as they blew past South Hobart 7-0 in their Saturday afternoon clash. The undermanned South side were no match for a dominant Warriors side, who raced to a 3-0 lead and cruised from there on out, to maintain their 100% record through 3 weeks. The writing was on the wall early in this one, as Jade Williams showed off her class with a superb brace either side of a stunning solo goal from Madi Chambers, to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead after just 11 minutes. Williams was subbed off moments later, but she had left her mark on the game with her two exquisite strikes and one wonders how many she may have had if she had lasted the full 90 minutes. They then added a fourth as Inocent Michael waltzed through the heart of the South Hobart defence and stroked home tidily into the bottom corner. Those early goals seemed to take the intensity out of the Warriors attack, as the game did rather go through the motions as the first half ticked on. The Warriors hardly overextended themselves, but they simply didn't need to, they were in complete control and moving the ball around nicely, with Bomford, Michael and Black bossing the central areas and Chambers and Davies wreaking havoc in wide areas. Naomi Berrell and Aline Kidd showed some nice signs and battled hard for their side all day, but the South defence was under constant pressure and the Warriors would add to their lead early in the second half. Chambers grabbed her second of the day to finish off some quality work in wide areas from Bonnie Davies before Bomford, having been denied by the woodwork minutes earlier, got her reward with a well taken goal. Mcmullen made a pair of nice stops before Bianca Parker rounded out the scoring for the day with a clinical finish for the game's 7th goal. It was a positive sign for a player who has had a truly wretched run of injuries and is hopefully a sign of things to come for the promising young striker. The full time whistle blew out and the Warriors walked away the victors, making it 3 from 3 and opening up a handy early cushion on top of the table. There is no doubt they are the team to beat this season and their breathtaking speed in attack was on full display at Warrior Park in this one. South meanwhile were always going to be up against it, they've been beset by injuries and player departures and results like this, whilst tough to swallow, will help show their young side the level they need to get to moving forwards in their development. https://youtu.be/Dnm1PWqnkmE
