The Weekend Wrap

National Premier Leagues Tasmania

Clarence 0-12 Devonport The Devonport Strikers have stormed to their biggest win in the NPL TAS this season, registering a massive 12-0 away win over Clarence United at Wentworth Park. The win came courtesy of a Miles Barnard eight goal haul, which broke the record for most goals scored by an individual player in an NPL TAS game, beating the prior mark of 7 set by Adam Mckeown. Match Report Olympia  5-1 Riverside The Olympia Warriors claimed a comfortable 5-1 win over Riverside Olympic on Saturday afternoon, as they controlled the contest and overcame a rocket of a goal from Christopher Wademan to chalk up another 3 points to maintain their pursuit of the Devonport Strikers. Match Report Launceston City 0-3 Hobart Zebras A dominant second-half display from the Hobart Zebras against Launceston City was enough to help them return to winning ways after some less than desirable performances in recent weeks. The Zebras captain, Matthew Sanders, lead by example after urging more from his players during last week’s post-game interview. Two goals and an assist from the skipper will go a long way towards restoring the passion in the Zebras dressing room as they claimed a 3-0 win. Match Report South Hobart 2-0 Glenorchy Knights Isky Van Doorne has waved goodbye to South Hobart with a man-of-the-match performance in his final game, as a pair of assists from the Calgary Flyer led South to a 2-0 win over Glenorchy Knights. The result keeps South in the thick of the NPL TAS title race, and while they struggled to land a killer blow to end the contest, they were never really troubled as a goal in each half saw them claim a vital three points. Women's Super League

Ulverstone 2-0 Olympia Ulverstone produced a vintage display to inflict Olympia’s first defeat of the WSL season. The open ended affair showed no signs of the caginess that was on show in the season’s earlier encounter at Valley Road. As Ulverstone’s high press was too much for the Olympia defence to handle. A penalty finished by Jazmin White and second half goal by Lucy Foote secured the win for the home side. Match Report South Hobart 8-0 Clarence They started Saturday on the bottom of the Women’s Super League table, but a dominant display has seen South Hobart climb out of the basement with an 8-0 win over Clarence. The two sides had one win apiece in their previous two meetings, but the result this time was never in doubt as South overwhelmed their opponents from start to finish. Charlotte Ingram led the way with four goals, and she was well supported by Pishon Choi and Phoebe Djakic in an electric attacking performance. Match Report Hobart Zebras 4-2 Kingborough Lions The Hobart Zebras scored a crucial three points in their title challenge today as they downed Kingborough Lions 4-2 at KGV. It was 2-0 at half time thanks to a Lily Hulton brace and then in an entertaining second half the Lions looked to fight back thanks to an early goal from Zoe Horgan but it would be Zebras who ultimately came out on top.
