Match Primer
Form can sometimes matter little when it comes down to the road trip to Ulverstone. Three straight wins in comfortable fashion, means no-one can deny the Clarence Zebras aren’t in fine patch of form. Ulverstone will be out to throw a spanner in the works, with the matter of finding an opening season victory in front of a home (covid-safe) crowd up for grabs. Last weekend, the home side demonstrated an ability to frustrate Olympia’s forwards in 1v1 contests. Replicating the same tactic could be difficult against a Clarence side with so many avenues to goal. That doesn’t mean the battle between Lucy Reimer and Zoe Nichols won’t be one for the ages, it just means Ulverstone will need to be at their structural best to handle the other Zebra threats. The ball is firmly in the court of the away team, who has shown the ability to win without needing to fire on all cylinders. While the Reds will need their still-gelling front three combination to find form and goals for half a chance against this experienced Clarence outfit.Date: Sunday 9 August

Match Primer
There’s no point denying history for this clash, there will be goals. Precedent suggests so but a couple things will need to fly to allow the goals to flow. Neither squad is struggling for quality centre forwards. Whilst goals could turn up from elsewhere, such as world class bangers from the midfield, it’s not necessary. For South Hobart, Phoebe Djakic looked deadly in the box, producing a second half double last weekend. Meanwhile Kingbourough’s Laura Davis has been tamed over recent weeks, but her movement and goals in round one primes her to storm out of the gates strong if not closely marked. This encounter has shaped up as a 3rd v 4th battle, and will play a big role in deciding the favourite for third place. South will be hoping to continue winning ways, while the Lions will be looking to replicate that round 1 winning feeling.Date: Sunday 9 August

Match Primer
Expect some extra spice to be introduced to this encounter, with round 4 marking the first time these two teams have met since the 2018 promotion play off match. History and current form suggests Olympia are strong favourites and it’s difficult to see otherwise. The midfield will be where this match will be won and lost. For University’s midfield the struggle has been very real, unable to show the composure to create meaningful passing combinations over their opening matches. The task to go up against Olympia’s powerful midfield brigade is no mean feat. The Warriors boast an impressive midfield depth packed with quality with Caitlin Roberts now slotting in for a spell last weekend and Leah Gubb expected to return after not lining up last round. The small home pitch for the Warriors has never been to their advantage and University will need to work the lack of space to theirs, and provide support to their valiant defence. However, the Warriors two central forwards, Bonnie Davies and Mia Cane have been in fine goalscoring form over the past two matches. The ball is firmly in the home side’s court to produce the goods and secure three points.
