WSL Round 2: Team of the Week

GK- Rhiannon Steele (University) Steele was a major part in her side taking a point from the Reds as she was kept busy in the Bees net, showing her quality with a penalty save amongst a number of important s RB- Isabella Ferrier (Clarence Zebras) Played the first 45 minutes at full back before switching into a more attacking role in the second half where she scored a lovely goal from outside the box. CB- Olivia Young (University) A calming presence at the back, Young was solid in cleaning everything up at the back and she had no shortage of work to do as Ulverstone did the bulk of the attacking throughout the game. CB- Zara Dixon (Clarence Zebras) Is clearly relishing playing in a dominant side and is now able to show off her offensive abilities, launching attacks from the back far more in this side playing alongside a reliable anchor in Steventon. LB- Louisa Marmion (Clarence Zebras) With her side controlling the play, she was able to bomb on and show her attacking threat which was demonstrated when she scored an absolute cracker of a volley. CM- Inocent Michael (Olympia) Utterly bossed the midfield for the Warriors, parking herself in front of the back four and winning nearly everything she challenged for, before capping her day with a fine solo goal. CM- Bronte Gadon (Clarence Zebras) Emerging as a breakout star of the league, Gadon was a creative force in midfield and scored a truly stunning goal to put the cherry on top of a classy display. CM- Leah Gubb (Olympia) Keepers of the league watch out, Gubb was not shy about launching shots from range which led to a fine goal from 30 yards out and almost had another if not for a very unlucky bounce. RF- Bonnie Davies (Olympia) Scored two and another day she might have had even more, the Lions defence simply had no answer to her searing pace that wreaked havoc at the back all game long. LF- Amy Bisset (Ulverstone) Was her sides most dangerous player all day and led their fightback superbly, getting in behind the lines to score before winning the penalty that would square things up. ST- Sophie Young (University) A brace for Young whose speculative efffort made for a remarkable opening goal, before doubling her tally as she used her pace to tear in behind the Reds defence.
