WSL: Round 3 Team of the Week

GK- Georgia Anderson (Ulverstone) Was quite possibly the difference between the sides with her performance in net. Unlucky to be beaten and made some telling saves in a tight game. CB- Emily Nellis (Ulverstone) A typically accomplished performance from Nellis and her duel with Laura Davis was super viewing, as arguably the best stopper in the league came up against the best goalscorer. CB- Airlee Lawson (Kingborough) Lawson was a rock at the back as her side came under plenty of pressure from a dangerous Ulverstone side, that would have scored more if not for Lawson's efforts. CB- Maddie Black (Olympia) Any hopes of the South side being able to pick the Warriors off on the counter were snuffed out quickly, by the high defensive line led by Black who didn't put a foot wrong all day. DM- Georgia Foote (Ulverstone) Sat in front of the defence and protected them with a physically dominant performance before playing a key role in setting up the match winner. CM- Mary Coy (South Hobart) Made some excellent defensive challenges and fought hard in the middle of the park despite being under near constant siege from the Warriors. CM- Inocent Michael (Olympia) Scored a fine solo goal as she cut a swathe through the South Hobart defence and those trademark driving runs from midfield were a constant in a dominant performance. AM- Zoe Horgan (Kingborough) Has given the Lions such a strong presence in the midfield and again it was Horgan driving the play, asking questions from set pieces and flying into challenges. RW- Bonnie Davies (Olympia) Then on the other flank you had the fastest player in the league causing just as many problems. Davies searing pace was too much to handle, as she chimed in with a couple of assists. LW- Madison Chambers (Olympia) Just continually burns off defenders with her sharp changing of direction, Chambers helped herself to 2 more goals and was a menace down the left. ST- Laura Davis (Kingborough) Denied a goal on the day, but Davis was a major creative force in attack. Her pace and willingness to drive at the defence led to most her sides best scoring chances.
