Foundation of Football:
The Foundation of Football is aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to approximately fifteen (15) years old. This course is a prerequisite for the Football Australia/AFC C Diploma.
This course primarily targets coaches of children aged 5 to 11 years, however, it is also tailored to beginners and novices, making it suitable for adult teams with limited experience.
The Foundation of Football is a standalone course and not merely a module. The central focus of the course is to empower coaches to establish a safe and enjoyable environment for young players. It offers guidance on conducting engaging training sessions and provides pre-designed training plans for an entire season, alleviating coaches from the task of creating them themselves.
Coaches will participate in practical sessions covering the basics of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game. The course is mostly practical and not graded, allowing the student to participate in the training sessions if they so choose. The course also promotes participating in group discussions with the goal of exchanging experiences.
Mini Roos:
This course is for coaches of any level and is the introductory coaching course offered by Football Australia. It is targeted at coaching children from 11 years of age and below.
The session is practical and encourages the coach to create games based on enjoyment. The focus is on learning by playing football.
The secret to encouraging players to develop a love for the game without coaching is to organise enjoyable football activities.
The coaches will be exposed to fundamental game rules and guidance on creating an enjoyable and safe football environment.
How to access the Football Australia Learning Centre for the first time:
Football Australia has moved to a new online learning system. Here’s some information to help you navigate it:
– Participants/Learners are now required to hold an ACTIVE PlayFootball registration (2023 or 2024) as either a referee or a coach to gain access. If a participant/learner has not yet registered for the 2025 season or is not coaching, they can register to become ACTIVE in 2025 at the following Learner Centre Tasmania link.
Learner Centre Tasmania Registration – PlayFootball
Support articles on how to register for the Learner Centre Tasmania can also be found online via the ‘Help Hub’ listed on PlayFootball.
– Once you have this registration, you can now create your learning account at https://learn.footballaustralia.com.au/ – this will drag across any details from your PlayFootball account and add them to your learning centre account.
– Upon accessing the learning centre, you can search for the course you want and register. Please note that you must register and pay for yourself at time of registration. Clubs can now no longer register participants in groups or request batch invoices. Anyone who is being paid for by their club will need to be reimbursed by their club later, or use a club credit card to pay their registration.
It is important to note that Member Federations do not have admin access to answer concerns around registration or access to the new learning centre. We are unable to manually add participants to a course either before or after completion.
