Dear Members,
I write to let you know about two recent changes to the Football Tasmania Board. Mark Jefferson, who was first elected as a Director in February 2017, recently accepted a role based in Brisbane, with his current employer, SIMS Metal group. As a result of this relocation Mark has resigned from his position on the FT Board. Mark has made a very strong contribution to football in this state, as a player, President of Northern Rangers FC and more recently as a Director with FT.
He was a member of the FT Board Competitions Sub-Committee and he has provided great insights and ideas in particular in the context of the Competition Review undertaken last year. Like all voluntary positions within football, being a Director requires a substantial commitment of time and energy and on behalf of the FT Board, as well as the broader membership, I would like to thank Mark for his service. We wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.
We are also delighted to welcome Fiona Reynolds to the Board. Fiona was appointed as a Director last week. She has had a career in the media for than 30 years where she has reported, produced and led teams to deliver high quality print, radio, television and digital content to audiences across Australia. She began her media career at The Examiner newspaper in Launceston as a 17-year-old cadet journalist in 1988. After developing her skills in ABC management interstate, Fiona returned to The Examiner as Tasmania’s first female daily newspaper editor. She was named Telstra Tasmanian Business Woman of the Year in 2009.
Fiona is a great addition to the FT Board and her skills and expertise will be invaluable as we navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19, and continue our focus on strategic priorities including facilities, the profile of football and strengthening our relationships with all levels of government.
Bob Gordon
President
