Female Only Skills Training Part 2

Part 2 of the Southern Tasmania Female Only Skill Training Certificate took place on Thursday night with participants presenting the Skill Training component of a training session they had been developing following Part 1 of the course. "Having the course broken into 4 parts means that the participants can take their on-course learnings from one session, develop them over the fortnight, then return to share the activities that they have prepared," commented Matt Kilsby, the course presenter. “Participants are starting to have a greater understanding of the journey to becoming a coach” he added. It is important for the participants to be able to construct a training session in a way that is meaningful and achieves the desired outcomes.  One of the FFA’s recommended processes is the 3-part model of:
  • Skill Introduction
  • Skill Training
  • Skill Game
“Knowing how the steps in a training session assist with developing and maintaining a focus for the players around a selected core skill, is very important for each of the coaches,” said Leah Gubb, who is assisting Matt Kilsby with the delivery of the course. Part 3, in two weeks’ time, sees the participants presenting the activity they have developed for the Skill Game component of the training session, followed by the course presenters delivering a full training.
