Football Tasmania is pleased to announce that the advertised positions have now been filled. Joining the Football Tasmania team over the coming weeks will be three new Regional Development Managers, Chris Gallo, Blaise Fagan, and Matt Kilsby, an Administrative Assistant, Melita Beard, and a Community Football Manager, Alby Hooper.
North West Development Officer: Chris Gallo
Chris is an A License coach who had great success as Senior Coach of the Devonport Strikers, winning the NPL Tas competition in 2018 as well as the Lakoseljac Cup. He was previously the Technical Director for youth football at Manly United FC and coached at Notts County FC and York City FC in the UK.Chris will be moving back to the north west after a stint coaching the Mackay Magpies in the NPL Queensland.
Northern Development Officer: Blaise Fagan,
Blaise will be returning to Football Tasmania. Blaise worked with the organisation a number of years ago, and since that time he worked in the NSW Riverina region as Coaching & Development Manager. Blaise also had development roles with Eastern Suburbs and Ku-ringai Football Associations in Sydney. He is also an A Licence accredited coach and is especially passionate about the development of grassroots football.
Southern Development Officer: Matt Kilsby
Matt will be joining the Football Tasmania team in the south of the state. Matt’s most recent role has been as a Football Development Officer for one of New Zealand’s seven Federations. Matt is an A-Licence accredited coach, is an experienced coach developer and, in 2018, worked with the New Zealand U17 Women’s squad, assisting with their preparations for the U17 World Cup.
These development roles will focus on
· -Delivering player development programs for FT in Tasmania;
· -Engaging with, educating and supporting coaches;
· -Providing practical leadership and support to associations and clubs that increase their capacity and ability to deliver high quality football environments for all game participants
· -Increasing participation through growth in key segments and improvement in player retention
· -Elevating the profile of football in the local community
· -Providing general liaison with clubs on behalf of FT
Administrative Assistant: Melita Beard Melita has many years of experience working in similar roles including with Advance Workforce Development and Vodafone Australia. Melita grew up in Hobart and has children playing football. This role will involve the construction of reports and proposals. Arranging meetings with internal and external stakeholders including FT Directors, club and association representatives, government and corporate partners. Organising travel arrangements as well as FT events throughout the year including match day functions, government events and corporate partner activationsCommunity Football Manager- Alby Hooper
Alby is an Academy coach at the Olympia Warriors and has been Football Tasmania's most successful Football Participation Officers, visiting schools, encouraging new players and helping grow the game. This role will work closely with our 5 Junior Associations and 33 Member Clubs to lead the implementation of the new FFT Strategic Plan. The role will have a particular focus on growing participation as well as other programs and services
