Devonport Strikers wasted no time in steaming towards a third consecutive Women's Statewide Cup title.
Prolific forward Jaz White took just 18 seconds to score the fastest goal in WSC final history and the team did not look back as they strolled to a 6-0 victory over Launceston United.
The result kept Tom Ballantyne’s all-conquering team on course for a third straight unbeaten season and means they have still not tasted defeat since September 9, 2023.
For the second year running, the player of the match award went to Japanese import Asuka Doi whose goal and three assists kept her on track to retain her WSL best and fairest award.
Inevitably, White claimed the honour of scoring the historic opener, racing clear to continue her record of finding the net in every match this season.
White turned provider 15 minutes later allowing Grace Sims to add another cup final goal to the couple she claimed a year earlier.
Doi completed the same personal double when she pounced on a defensive clearance to add her name to the scoresheet on 66 minutes.
Two sublime Doi assists enabled White to complete a fourth hat-trick of the campaign, take her tally to 27 and maintain her average of more than two per game.
Still not done, Doi put the sixth on a plate for sub Isabella Taylor.
Captained by veteran centre-back Katie Hill, Nate Wright’s United dug deep as they sought to farewell import striker Olivia De Moraes in style.
However, Strikers’ well-organised defence gave the silky Brazilian/American few opportunities to add to her 19 goals before she heads back across the Pacific.
De Moraes went closest early in the second half while Lucy Smith also threatened with a deflected shot just before the break.
Strikers were missing regulars Georgia King and 2024 golden boot Whitney Knight but provided a consistent threat and would have registered more goals but for United keeper Jaz Venn.
Accepting the trophy, captain Lucy Foote said: “Well done girls. We really stood up today and I’m proud of every single one of you.”
Congratulating Strikers on their victory, Hill said it was a rebuild year for United.
“Despite the fact that we were not good enough today, making it here as a group is something that we can be proud of.”
The finalists have become a regular presence in the showpiece with United gracing three successive finals and winning in 2022 (3-1 v Kingborough), before Devonport recorded back-to-back titles against Kingborough in 2024 (2-1aet) and South Hobart last year (5-2).
