An Update from CEO: Matt Bulkeley

Dear Tasmanian Football Family, It is now 11 days on since the decision was made to postpone all football activities across the country up until at least 14 April. We are all living through what are frequently but accurately described as unprecedented times. COVID-19 is impacting on our daily lives in so many ways, including loss of employment and other disruption to the way we work, less ability to connect with our friends and family, interruption to school for our young people and of course not being able to play and participate in our wonderful game for so many in this state. We believe that when we can get back on the park, football will be critically important for so many Tasmanians.  With this in mind we are committed to providing football competitions and programs as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so, and we’ll continue to work on plans that can be put into place when we are able to. In the meantime we are aware that the date of 14 April is fast approaching. We know that the football community would like as much certainty as is possible in relation to when football might return. Over the next couple of days discussions will occur with FFA and other Member Federations to consider this and decide on this. The outcome of this will be communicated very early next week. We continue to update the COVID-19 section of our website, as well as provide updates through social media. There is also information there that may be helpful for both clubs and individuals that have already been impacted by the Coronavirus, including tools and resources for helping people look after their mental health. Most importantly please continue to look after yourself and each other, during what is a difficult time for Tasmanians. Best wishes, Matt
