Welcome to the Friday Forecast for Round 5 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League. South Hobart enters this round atop the table, but with just a single point separating the competition’s top three sides, it remains very tight at the top. We’ve seen this set of fixtures once before, back in the opening round of the season, with a fixture quirk seeing these games played this week before the final set of fresh clashes will take place in Round 6. The opening round produced some highly entertaining matches so hopefully we see more of the same this time around as the sides prepare for the…
More than 1600 players from under-5s to under-17s will pull on their boots this weekend, as the Northern Tasmanian Junior Soccer Association (NTJSA) kicks off its 2023 season in Launceston today (Saturday, 22 April 2023).

Welcome to the Weekend Wash-up after an entertaining Round 5 of the McDonald’s NPL Tasmania. It promised to be a weekend of close games and that was precisely what we were served up. All four games were decided by just a single goal in what must rank as one of the more tightly fought weekends in the league’s history.
Knights Grind Out Another WinThe round got underway on Friday night with the Glenorchy Knights taking on the Kingborough Lions at KGV, in what basically amounted to a bonus home fixture for the Knights with Lightwood Park out of operation. For the second Friday night in a row…
Welcome to the Weekend-Wash up after Round 5 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League. It was a weekend that delivered a major shock, in the form of the Clarence Zebras thrashing the previously high-flying Devonport Strikers, before Sunday’s action played out in a more expected manner, with the competition's top two sides, South Hobart and Launceston United registering victories over Kingborough and Taroona.
Five Star Zebras Sink Strikers
Saturday’s lone game provided a major shock as the Clarence Zebras smashed the Devonport Strikers 5-1 at Wentworth Park in a major boilover.
In the Round of 16 of the Lakoseljac Cup, there were no games decided by less than 3-goal margins, as the favourites all took care of business in dominant fashion. It was devoid of the tension, drama and upsets that draw people to Cup football. The flip side of that is that we now have a final 8 loaded with the top sides and a thrilling slate of quarter-final clashes to come this weekend. What we lacked last round, we should have no shortage of this weekend.
The Quarter Final action will begin with Riverside Olympic hosting Hobart United at…
After the favourites all won comfortably in the Round of 16, the quarter-final stage of the competition threw up a couple of stunning score lines in an entertaining weekend of football.
The opening game of the weekend produced the first Cupset of the year. The lone Championship side remaining in Hobart United pulled off a memorable victory by marching into Windsor Park and downing NPL side Riverside Olympic 1-0.
United would’ve taken a lead into the halftime break if not for the heroics of Ari Johnson in the Riverside goal, who saved a…
Welcome to the Friday Forecast as we return to league action for Round 6 in the McDonald’s NPL Tasmania. After a cup weekend, the focus turns back to the league for the final fortnight of fresh fixtures, before another pause for the Lakoseljac Cup Semi-Finals and then we start getting into rematches from Round 8 onwards.
Following Wednesday’s Cup draw, we now have our matchups for that Semi-Final weekend. Flying the flag for the Southern Championship, Hobart United have been given a boost with a home draw but will face a stern test against a South Hobart side who dismantled the Knights 7-…
Welcome to the Friday Forecast ahead of Round 6 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League season. We have games across the entire weekend for this round, things kick off on Friday night at Kelvedon Park with Taroona hosting the Kingborough Lions, on Saturday the Devonport Strikers take on Launceston United before the round concludes at Darcy Street on Sunday with South Hobart taking on the Clarence Zebras.
Before diving into those fixtures though, the big news of the week was undoubtedly Wednesday’s Statewide Cup draw that set our Semi-Final fixtures. In Semi-Final number 1, it will be the…

Young footballers from 4 to 12 will officially return to the field this weekend as the Eastern Region Junior Soccer Association (ERJSA) commences its 2023 season.
ERJSA President Matt Combey said: “Once again, our numbers are at an all-time high, with almost 1,550 players registered this season.
“For the first time we will have games played in Sorell this year, as we seek new locations to expand in line with our increasing player numbers, while maintaining our age-based hub model that creates such wonderful atmospheres during the season.
Welcome to the Weekend-Wash Up following Round 6 of the McDonald’s NPL Tasmania. It was a weekend with few surprises as results largely played out as expected. The Strikers continue to hum along atop the table as the chasing pack sorts itself out. Whether a side can emerge from that group to pose any threat to the defending Champions remains to be seen. With the top four all winning this week, no ground was gained by anyone in the top half of the standings.
Friday Knight Specialists Strike Again
The round began on Friday night at KGV with the Glenorchy Knights claiming a 1-0 victory…
Welcome to the Weekend-Wash Up following Round 6 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League. With games spread across the weekend, the action began on Friday night when Laura Davis ran riot to fire the Kingborough Lions to a 6-2 win over Taroona. On Saturday, it was the Devonport Strikers who proved too much for Launceston United, leaping them up into second place with a 3-0 win, where they sit on the heels of our ladder leaders, South Hobart, who scored a 3-0 win of their own on Sunday, downing the Clarence Zebras.
Welcome to the Friday Forecast ahead of Round 7 of the McDonald’s NPL Tasmania. This will be the final round of fresh match-ups before we enter the repeat fixtures from Round 8 onwards. It’s a weekend that features 1st v 2nd and 3rd v 4th matches, so it’s sure to have a significant impact on the title race.

Welcome to the Friday Forecast for Round 7 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League. With the competition’s top two sides set to meet, it’s set to be a pivotal weekend before we take a break for Semi Final Weekend in the Statewide Cup, which will feature rematches from two of this weekend’s games.
Top of the Table Showdown at Valley Road
The lone game on Saturday is the game of the Round and could quite possibly prove to be one of the biggest games of the season; it’s certainly the biggest to date. The Devonport Strikers will host South Hobart in a battle between the competition’s…
Welcome to the Weekend Wash-up after Round 7 of the McDonald’s NPL Tasmania. With the conclusion of this round each side has now played each other once and there are three distinct tiers seemingly emerging within the league. Devonport have once again emerged as the clear front runners, sitting in a tier of their own, four points clear on top and they remain the only undefeated side. There is still a long way to go of course, but I feel like we've seen this story before and they are unlikely to relent. Then there is a large middle tier, with six points separating Knights in second to the…
Welcome to the Weekend Wash-Up for Round 7 of the MyState Bank Women’s Super League. It was a weekend that saw South Hobart make a major statement, scoring a massive win on the road over Devonport to open up a four-point gap atop the standings, with Pishon Choi sealing their win with a quality goal. Launceston United moved up into second as they got past a spirited Lions side, whilst the Clarence Zebras claimed their third win of the season by downing Taroona.

Welcome to the Friday Forecast ahead of Semi Final weekend in the Statewide Cup competitions. This is always an entertaining weekend of action and with no tomorrow for the losers, the sides will be leaving it all out there on the pitch.
In the Lakoseljac Cup we have the Devonport Strikers looking to claim a third consecutive Cup triumph, but standing in their way is the only side to have defied them in 2023, the Clarence Zebras. Then on Sunday the underdog narrative kicks into gear with South Hobart taking on Championship opponents in Hobart United.

Semi Final weekend is in the books and the Cup Final match ups are set! Let's dive into the Semi Final action to see just how we got to those clashes.
Zebras Made To Pay the Penalty As Strikers Storm Back
