Two of the brightest young prospects in the state walked away with the major prizes from the Veto Southern Awards Night as Callum Brown and Madison Chambers took out the Veto Southern Championship Best and Fairest awards.
The Golden Boot winner for the competition, Brown claimed the Vic Tuting medal by a comfortable 4 votes from his Knights teammate Jonathan Ladic, in a tie for second place with Hobart United's striker Riak Dhieu on 18 votes. Hobart United were well represented in the top five, with Jai David coming in fourth and Beachside's Henry Fagg rounding out the top five.
The Devonport Strikers went down 3-2 to Heidelberg in their NPL National Finals Series Elimination Final, as a last gasp Jack Petrie free kick secured the win for the defending champions. The game had appeared destined for extra time after Kieran Mulraney’s leveller had knotted things up at 2-2 before Petrie caught Pitchford off his line and picked out the top corner from long range.

Nathaniel Atkinson has become the third Tasmanian to captain a National Footballing side, as he led the Young Socceroos to victory to a 2-1 victory over Vietnam overnight in the Under 19 Asian Football Championships.

Northern Rangers FC Vice-President, Marshall Pooley, contacted FFT this morning to confirm the clubs decision to withdraw from the expanded NPL Tasmania competition in 2019. This came after a number of weeks of ongoing communication with the club.
FFT CEO Matt Bulkeley said ‘we’re obviously disappointed that Northern Rangers will not be part of the competition next year as they’ve been part of the NPL since its inception. That said, we understand and respect the clubs position.’

Football Federation Tasmania extends its deepest sympathies to Furjanic family following the passing of a giant of the game in Tasmania, Michael Furjanic.
Furjanic was a past player, president, patron and life member of Glenorchy Knights FC who left a large legacy on the game in the state.
Michael was the Knights club patron from 1997 to 2012 and he sponsored Tasmanian football through the Michael Tailors Cup in Hobart for 12 years. Football Federation Tasmania is pleased to announce, an upcoming presentation from Sports Psychologist, Johan Fallaby on The Talent Development Environment.
Johan has worked for about 10 years in the Swedish FA as head of Sport Psychology, including roles with the National Youth teams and the Women’s national team working in coach and player education. He was also the secretary of the Swedish FA medical committee.
He has also worked as a Sport Psychologist with three Swedish Premiere League men’s teams, Halmstad BK, Djurgårdens IF and he currently works at Örebro SK.
The fixtures for the Twin Ovals SAP Festival have been released, with rosters for Under 10s and Under 12s on Saturday, 15th and Under 11s and Junior Youth Girls on Sunday 16th of December.

In a win for Football on the North West Coast, the Devonport Strikers are set to benefit from a Federal Government grant to upgrade the Valley Road facilities.
Federal Sports Minister Bridget McKenzie and Senator Steve Martin made the announcement in Devonport on Monday morning, revealing the club will receive a grant of $385,000, as part of the Sport Australia Community Infrastructure Fund which will be used to help fund facility upgrades.

Mark is a FIFA referee (11 seasons) and is best known for his work in the English Premier League over 14 seasons (2004-17) which included the 2016 FA Cup Final.
