The Olympia Warriors have won the 2019 Summer Cup, after a goal from Josephine Mamic in the final minute of extra time sealed a 1-0 win over the Kingborough Lions.
After dominating much of the play but struggling to find a breakthrough, Bonnie Davies burst forward as the clock ticked into the 110th minute. Her shot sparked a manic scramble in the box that saw two reflex saves and one shot off the post, before Mamic finally poked home the winner from the six-yard box.

In a final 10 minutes filled with drama, a late South Hobart strike saved a point for the home side against a well-drilled Hobart Zebras team today. Despite numerous Lakoseljac Cup Qualifying matches going on around the state, a healthy crowd turned out to see the hard fought 1-1 draw.
In a game of two halves, it was Zebras who struck first despite South Hobart’s bright start. Alex Walter came close for South after his header was tipped onto the bar by an impressive Sam Whatman but the resulting corner came to nothing. It was just 5 minutes later that a looping ball over the top of Jack…
The qualifying round of the 2019 Lakoseljac Cup has been played out on Monday, with five qualifiers staged to determine who would join the other 11 sides into the draw for the Round of 16.
At KGV, it was a dominant start to the day from Nelson ESFC, who produced a comprehensive performance to account for cup newcomers South East United, 7-0. The Women's Super League is set to return, as the third full season of the competition gets underway for 2019 this weekend. This year will see 6 sides competing, with Clarence, Hobart Zebras, Kingborough, Olympia and South Hobart all chasing Ulverstone, who went 21 wins from 21 games en route to last seasons title. Having won the League by some 28 points last season, the gap would seem a tough one to close. However, nobody saw the Zebras sliding down as they did after their dominant 2017 campaign, so this season is far from a foregone conclusion. It certainly looks an open race, and an…
The Devonport Strikers maintained their 100% start to the 2019 season, fighting back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over Launceston City on Wednesday night.
Nearly two weeks after it was expected, Launceston City were finally able to get their 2019 NPL Tasmania season underway. On a cold night at Buckby Land Rover Park, City played host to last season's premiers, the Devonport Strikers. Having the extra couple of weeks may have favoured the Launceston outfit, as it would have provided them with more time to adjust after changing coach just one week before the season was set to start.…
The Kingborough Lions have kick-started their season with a dominant 90 minutes of football, beating Clarence 8-0 for their first points of the 2019 season.
American import Horacio Gutierrez bagged a brace, as did Phillip Kantzos and Chris Downes, as the Lions pummelled their opponents from kickoff to final whistle. They were dominant in all facets, leading the shot count 22-3 and holding possession for the majority of the game.
A steady opening ten minutes saw both teams ease into the contest, and Clarence looked lively on the counter-attack early. It wasn't…

The Knights opened the scoring through Declan Brown in the 17th minute before Jordan Scott struck back minutes before half time. The 2019 Women's Super League launches this weekend, with a pair of games to get it all underway as the top flight action returns for the Women after an intriguing Summer Cup competition.
The action will kick off down at Lightwood Park on Friday evening, as the Kingborough Lions play host to South Hobart. The Lions look to be the most improved team in the league for 2019, complementing the natural improvement to be expected in a youthful playing list, with some quality additions. The likes of Zoe Horgan and Hanna Manuela have added steel to the spine of the side, which is the area the Lions…
The Devonport Strikers sent a message to rest of the league with a dominant 4-0 win over Glenorchy Knights on Saturday afternoon at Valley Road. The Strikers exploded out of the blocks, scoring 3 goals in the space of 10 minutes to have the game well within their keeping after just 22 minute of play. They would add one more before half time, before the chances dried up in the second half, and it ultimately ended at 4-0.
Having rattled the crossbar with a wicked left footed effort from range on 6 minutes, Joel Stone turned provider and picked out Eddie Bidwell's run from deep to the back post…
A stunning Danny Cowen goal in the second-half saw Kingborough Lions take three points from a travelling Riverside Olympic outfit this afternoon, running out 2-1 winners. On a glorious day for football, the sun soaked Lightwood Park saw a cagey first half open up to become an entertaining game despite many missed opportunities.
The first ten minutes of play had Kingborough in the driving seat, however they were unable to convert their possession into anything meaningful and seemed reluctant to commit players forward. Riverside were strong in defence and got rewarded for their patience when…
South Hobart have comfortably accounted for Launceston City 5-1, in their Round 4 NPL TAS clash at Buckby Landrover Park. Nick Morton opened the scoring in the opening minute and added a second before half time as his side went into the sheds 3-0 ahead. Noah Mies scored his second goal of the season midway through the second half, but it was purely a consolation as South added two more goals to claim the 5-1 win.

The Kingborough Lions eventually converted their dominance to claim the 2019 Women's Super League season opener 3-0 over South Hobart at Lightwood Park. It took an hour for the Lions to break through, as heroics in goal by McMullen for South, weren’t enough to keep the home side. Laura Davis starred, finding her composure as the game grew to come away with a double, whilst a solo effort by Watkins saw out a convincing victory.
Early fire by Kingborough signalled their intent to start the season with a bang. The Lions were firing shots away frequently, registering fourteen first half shots,…
