Launceston City and Glenorchy Knights played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their Saturday evening clash at Buckby Landrover Park. Declan Brown continued his strong run of form, scoring to salvage an equaliser for his side after Jarrod Linger's brace had fired City into the lead.
It was a fairly even contest on the whole, with both teams having their fair share of the ball and of the scoring chances. It was the Knights that broke through first, via Nic Naden who scored his fifth goal of the season. Naden started the season with a thrilling four-goal display against league newcomers,…
The Hobarts Zebras ensured that they kept themselves amongst the title contenders with a 3-0 win over Kingborough Lions in the Safari Derby on Saturday night. Mathew Pace bagged himself a brace, with one goal in either half before Mathew Sanders scored his seventh goal of the season in stoppage time to put the game to bed.
The Lions found themselves in third spot after a good start to their campaign albeit results against lower placed sides, and this match was chance to make a real statement to the rest of the league. But neither side seemed real intent on…
A goal fest at Darcy Street has seen Clarence claw their way back from two goals behind to run out winners over South Hobart. A first half double by Pishon Choi wasn’t enough to keep Clarence at bay. Instead a second half comeback saw Emily Grzinic running the show on the right flank, before providing her side the winning goal to finish the scoring at 4-3.
South were the side to put turn the gas up early. Some darting runs by forward trio of Gadon, Choi and Moutsatsos created some quality opportunities and meant Dixon at centre back and Vanderniet in goals were both put to the test early.…

Players and parents are advised that trials for State Under 14 Girls (players born 2005/06) State Under 15 Girls (players born 2004) and NTC U16/17 sides (players born 2002/03) will take place as follows:
Hart has emerged the Knights #1 keeper and he isn't going to be relinquishing that spot if he keeps performing as he did against City, earning his side a point with some big time stops.
RB- Keenan Douce (Kingborough Lions)
Was the Lions most lively player, as he put in a brilliant shift, toiling hard down the right flank and offered his side plenty going both ways.
CB-Guillermo Lazcano (Devonport)
Another week another domineering performance at the back from the classy Spainaird, whose ability to play out shone in a game the Strikers controlled.
Welcome to the Friday Forecast for another week, as a clearer picture emerges in the NPL and the early posturing continues in the Super League.
In the NPL, with most sides having now played a similar amount of games we are getting a better idea of where teams stand, and who looks to be in the thick of the title race. The conclusion, Devonport are the team to beat, but the chasing pack have the quality which they are increasingly adding to, in order to haul them in. As such, we are seeing the early goings of an arms race, as sides search for that final piece of the puzzle. South Hobart have…
South Hobart travelled to KGV to meet NPL newcomers Glenorchy Knights last night and showed their patience and experience in a 3-0 victory. After a goalless first half, South Hobart proved the stronger team after the break and managed to wear down the persistent Knights defence on the hour mark before the dismissal of George Hallard proved to be the turning point in what had the potential to be a cagey affair.
Knights were without a number of senior players with the continued absence of Callum Brown, Jack Kupsch, Tom Young and Tommy Bellini, as well as work commitments meaning Lachie Hart…
The Devonport Strikers have maintained their perfect record, as they easily dealt with Clarence United 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. Eddie Bidwell fired in a hat-trick as the Reds were forced to play over an hour with just the 10 men.
It was a windy day at Valley Road with Clarence United visiting 'The Portress', where the Strikers have had an incredibly strong record since their emergence in the NPL. Clarence had not started their season the way that they had hoped but were hopeful as you never know what could come from a game of football. Both teams were looking to get three points out of the…
The Olympia Warriors continued their strong start to the Super League season, as they blew past South Hobart 7-0 in their Saturday afternoon clash. The undermanned South side were no match for a dominant Warriors side, who raced to a 3-0 lead and cruised from there on out, to maintain their 100% record through 3 weeks.
The writing was on the wall early in this one, as Jade Williams showed off her class with a superb brace either side of a stunning solo goal from Madi Chambers, to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead after just 11 minutes. Williams was subbed off moments later, but she had left her…
A late Noah Mies strike stole a point for Launceston City and broke the hearts of the Hobart Zebras, as an enthralling NPL TAS clash finished 2-2 at KGV on Saturday evening.
The Zebras dominated the second half and missed a handful of point-blank chances, and those misses came back to haunt them as Mies buried the equaliser in the 96th minute. That was an exciting finish to what had been an end-to-end thriller, with both teams giving themselves plenty of chances to win it.
The game started at a frenetic pace, as both sides could have taken the lead within the first ten minutes. The Zebras…
Olympia comfortably overcame Riverside on Saturday afternoon despite going down to 10-men, running out 5-0 winners at Warrior Park. Olympia went two goals up inside seven minutes through Jack Ryan and Joffrey Nkoso before the Warriors goalkeeper was sent off in the 21st minute. It didn’t faze the Warriors and Nkoso scored a second just before the break. Olympia added two goals in the second-half through Ryan who bagged his brace and Nkoso who claimed his hat-trick in the 87th minute.
The Warriors may have dominated this encounter, but the first clear-cut chance fell to Riverside’s Aaron…
Ulverstone have rediscovered that winning feeling, edging out the Kingborough Lions 2-1 in their Super League clash on the Coast. Jazmin Gorrie provided a lightning fast start to the game as she fired her side into the lead after just 2 minutes, before the Lions got back on terms via an Amy Ollington goal. Ulverstone reclaimed the lead via Danielle Mitchell just past the hour mark though, and were able to see things out from there, to claim their first points of the season.
Neither side hesitated from the kick off with a darting run by Bissett up one end, followed by Davis finding the room…
The experienced glove-man was absolutely lights out against South, making a series of big saves to frustrate South till late on in the piece.
CB- Thomas Little (Hobart Zebras)
Saved two goals off the line as he raced back to save the day and got his positioning spot on both times. Otherwise battled well and competed strongly in defensive duels.
CB- Lindsay Millington (Launceston City)
A real body on the line type performance from Millington who twice saved seemingly certain goals with vital defensive blocks.
Was quite possibly the difference between the sides with her performance in net. Unlucky to be beaten and made some telling saves in a tight game.
CB- Emily Nellis (Ulverstone)
A typically accomplished performance from Nellis and her duel with Laura Davis was super viewing, as arguably the best stopper in the league came up against the best goalscorer.
CB- Airlee Lawson (Kingborough)
Lawson was a rock at the back as her side came under plenty of pressure from a dangerous Ulverstone side, that would have scored more if not for Lawson's efforts.
The Olympia Warriors have produced an emphatic performance to down Clarence 9-0 at Warrior Park.
Jack Ryan topped the goal scorers list with four goals, whilst Joffery Nkoso also grabbed a hat-trick. Second half substitute Brayton Allan was also on hand to bury two chances, in what was an overall dominant performance from the home side.
The game began with instant action after Olympia won the ball from Clarence’s kick off. This saw Ben Curtis play a long ball through to Nkoso, who in turn played a great ball across the box to find Jack Ryan. The Englishman then made no mistake, putting the…
