Clarence Zebras are proving to be difficult prey to catch after they sealed a stoppage-time win at the Lion's Den in the MyState Bank Women's Super League.
A blustery day at Lightwood Park for the Safari Derby saw most of the action in the first half of the game.
An equal start to this round 12 clash, where aggressive defending by Kingborough's Brontë Gadon throughout the game was key. Gadon denied current golden boot contender Allie Berry on a number of occasions allowing her little chance to break through, while at the other end of the park it was Steventon holding off Danielle…

Taroona have continued to impress as the season has progressed, but they face one of the toughest trips in Tasmanian football in round 13 as they travel to Valley Road and take on the Strikers.

Devonport Strikers extend their lead at the top of the NPL Tasmania ladder as Glenorchy Knights travelled to Valley Road for the first time this season. It was expected to be a replay of the epic Lakoseljac Cup final, where the two teams were so closely matched, that the game could only be decided by a penalty shootout two weeks ago.
But that's enough about penalty shootouts for this week.
With a crowd in excess of 500 people, the atmosphere at Valley Road was alive as the Strikers held their annual "Pink Day" in support of the McGrath Foundation. The crowd numbers could also have been…
Football Tasmania has welcomed Sue Hickey’s commitment to working with council officers on delivering football infrastructure upgrades at North Chigwell and KGV if she is successful in the Glenorchy City Council election.
“Both the KGV and North Chigwell projects promise to be real game changers for the community and it’s vital their benefits are realised without any further delay,” Ms Hickey said.
“Andrew Wilkie provided a great service to the community by securing the funding for the upgrades and it’s important we do his hard work justice, as well as the work of Football Tasmania, by…
Glenorchy City Council Acting Mayor and mayoral candidate, Bec Thomas has stated her commitment to prioritising upgrades at KGV and North Chigwell, saying procurements for the design and construction of new changerooms and grandstand at KGV had been issued this week.
“As Acting Mayor I have strongly advocated for moving things along with the Northern Suburbs Football Facilities development projects, which are of great importance to our Glenorchy community and the broader football community,” Ms Thomas said.
“I am pleased to confirm we received the final funding agreement for signing this…
Unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel the National Youth Championships due to be held in September and October 2021.
It will come as no surprise to you that with the current lockdown restrictions in Sydney, and the worsening situation now expanding to Victoria, that this decision has been taken, in consultation with Football Tasmania and all the other Member Federations. It goes without saying that the health, safety and wellbeing of our players (and accompany parents, staff and spectators) comes first. Furthermore, national events of this nature will always be at the mercy of…
Its your last chance to vote for your My State Bank Community Champion for July.
Every week we see hundreds of volunteers at community football matches throughout the state. These volunteers play such an important role in facilitating our community participation in Football in Tasmania.
The MyState Bank Football Community Champion Awards have been created to recognise the important contribution that these volunteers make both on the pitch and behind the scenes. All nominees will be celebrated and a monthly award winner will be announced as the MyState Bank Football Community Champion of the…

New floodlights at Ulverstone Showgrounds will help Ulverstone Soccer club go from strength-to-strength by enabling more training and playing time says Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley.
The lighting upgrade which was officially opened today by Federal Member for Braddon Gavin Pearce was made possible by a $210,000 Federal Government grant.
“It’s wonderful to see the new lights come on at the Ulverstone Showgrounds,” Mr Bulkeley said.
“As with many clubs across the state, access to sufficient playing and training space for our growing player base has been an issue holding Ulverstone back…

The squads were originally going to compete at the girls and boys Football Australia National Youth Championships which have been called off for 2021.

Women's Super League | Devonport Strikers vs Taroona FC | 12 pm | Valley Road, Devonport | Saturday 10th July 2021
It was an early morning for the Taroona Pirates as they travelled to Devonport to meet the Strikers at Valley Road. It was end to end action here, from two of the new sides to the MyState Women's Super League this year ultimately ending in a 4-2 victory to Devonport.
It was Taroona who kicked off the goal action, as Emma Carbon netted her first goal in the 18th minute with a curling free-kick into the goal past keeper George Anderson.
The Clarence Zebras are the NPL Tasmania’s team of the east after defeating the Olympia Warriors for the third time this season in a routine 3-1 victory.
Warriors coach Rob Clarke welcomed the returning Koby Moschogianis back from suspension by placing him on the left side of a back three, while Kyle Vincent took his place up front forcing Brayton Allan to the bench.
The Italian contingent of fans behind the home goal had barely stopped celebrating the Euros success from six days prior when a frantic start saw the first real chance…
MyState Women's Super League | Clarence Zebras vs Olympia FC Warriors | Wentworth Park 18th July 2021
It is always a great spectacle when these two sides meet. Both powerhouses in recent years with the battle for trophies swaying from one to the other. Current League champions, Olympia faced one of the biggest challenges of the season as they travelled to Wentworth Park to meet Clarence Zebras.
Zebras went into this game, ten points clear at the top of the WSL and it would seem that only Olympia Warriors have the chance at stopping them from winning the title race.

The Glenorchy Knights have put the Devonport Strikers on notice following a 2-0 win over title rivals South Hobart at KGV.
Heavy rain drove supporters into the stands at KGV, but it appeared James Sherman had managed to light a fire under his Knights who had the ball in the net within three minutes. Wing-back Jack Bowman supplied Austin Yost with a delightful cross, but the in-form marksman’s headed goal was denied by the offside flag. However, just as he did last week against the Kingborough Lions, Nick Mearns found the net in the…
A second-half Danielle Gunton strike and some impressive defending helped Launceston United to their third win in a row, overcoming a stubborn Taroona lineup 1-0 at Kelvedon Park. United had all of the play in the first half without any reward, and while the home side had their chances it was Gunton that pounced to claim the winner just after half-time.
United certainly looked the more confident side from the opening kick-off, and they spent the bulk of the opening portion of the game in their attacking half. Taroona goalkeeper Isolina Ottavi was called into action early, springing off her…
