The Olympia Warriors have gotten the Statewide Cup monkey off their backs at their third attempt, with a 3-1 victory over Launceston United at KGV earning them the 2021 trophy.
Right from the get-go, the action from Launceston could be summed up with one word: aggression. United were hell-bent on bringing plenty of physicality to the reigning WSL champions, not allowing the midfield of Innocent Michael and Leah Gubb any room in the opening minutes. That pressure paid off when Jess Robinson scored for an early breakthrough, sending the United travelling fans into…
The Devonport Strikers have won the 2021 Lakoseljac Cup, winning a thrilling penalty shootout 4-3 over the Glenorchy Knights. A 1-1 scoreline after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra time sent the game to the penalty spot in one of the most epic finals in Tasmanian football history.
Team news saw a big out for Strikers with Connor Parke still unavailable due to the concussion protocols in place, so up stepped New Zealand import Jordan Lamb into the starting lineup. Glenorchy didn't fare much better with selections, with cup-tied signing Austin Yost not cleared to…

Being selected to represent your state at a national competition is one of the greatest honours a junior athlete can have, but unfortunately, not all talented players are able to participate due to the costs involved.
Football Tasmania is working to change that, launching a new fundraising initiative through the Australian Sports Foundation in an effort to make sure all players can compete if selected.
The fund is open to both the public and businesses and was kicked-off with a donation by Polyfoam Tasmania today.

The Clarence Zebras have claimed a memorable win in the MyState Women's Super League, storming back from a two-goal deficit to beat Launceston United 3-2. The ladder leaders were stunned as United took a 2-0 lead early in the second half at Wentworth Park, but a penalty with 20 minutes remaining kept them close before two goals in the final ten minutes sealed an unlikely victory. South Hobart threw away a 2-0 lead over Kingborough but still walked away with a point after the home side failed to complete their comeback, with a 3-3 final score at Lightwood Park.
