Launceston United continue undefeated start in WSL
Archived Article
Default
It was a battle of the Women's Super League's newest teams, and it was Launceston United that continued their winning start to the season with a 3-2 win over the Devonport Strikers at Valley Road. Three first-half goals put United in the box seat, but they had to overcome a furious Devonport comeback to claim all three points.

It took less than three minutes for the visitors to take the lead, with an early corner giving them a chance to catch the Strikers napping. A high delivery to the near post drew a crowd of defenders, but Launceston's Madison Gilpin read the ball best and snuck in…

Lions roar late to down Launceston City
Archived Article

The Kingborough Lions have continued their winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Launceston City at Buckby Land Rover Park.

City defended very well, holding the line keeping Lions at bay. City keeper Lachie Clark was called to action, making some great saves denying Ben Hamlett and Keenan Douce early.

Kobe Kemp was shoved off the ball in the penalty box but the referee waved play on and on we went.

Andrew Taylor finally got the breakthrough goal in the 75th minute after Keenan Douce's free-kick delivery found him for a headed finish at the near post, which sent the Lions in a frenzy of…

Devonport Strikers 0-1 South Hobart
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-8zG6as_Bc&t=7733s

The Devonport Strikers tasted defeat at their home ground for the first time in more than 1,000 days, going down 1-0 to South Hobart at Valley Road. In a game where both sides struggled to find goalscoring chances, a second half Nick Morton penalty was enough to give the visitors an upset victory over the three-time defending champions.

It was hardly the perfect day for a free-flowing game of football, and both sides were heavily reliant on long aerial passes to move the ball forward early. There was…

Knights stay undefeated with win over Lions

The Glenorchy Knights have continued their undefeated start to the season, holding off a Kingborough Lions fightback to win 5-2 at Lightwood Park. A hat-trick to Alex Walter kept the Knights in front despite a brace from Kingborough's Adam McKeown, before a pair of late goals made the final margin more comfortable.

It was the Lions that looked more comfortable from the opening whistle, moving the ball well and locking the ball in their attacking half for almost the entire first five minutes. They couldn't convert that into scoring chances, though, and the Knights quickly settled and took the…

South Hobart have continued their dominant start to the season, cruising to a 5-0 win over Launceston City at Darcy Street. It took almost the entire first half for them to crack a stubborn City defence, but a second-half surge headlined by a brace from Nick Morton saw them claim another big win.

South looked comfortable on the ball throughout the first half and did the bulk of the attacking, but they lacked the finishing touches until the dying moments of the period. They were well held by a Launceston defence…
