The Olympia Warriors took a step closer to securing the 2020 Women's Super League title with a 2-0 over Ulverstone at Warrior Park.
Bonnie Davies once again led the charge, scoring the opener early and sparking the attack for Cane to add the buffer. The visitors kept the Warriors at bay for a second half shut out, but weren't enough of a threat in attack to cast any doubt on the result.
The gauntlet was thrown down early by Olympia, who began the match on full throttle. The warning signs were there with a blocked effort taken by Innocent Michael in the second minute. Hope up the other…
South Hobart has moved into third on the NPL Tasmania table after a comfortable 5-0 win over the Clarence Zebras at Darcy Street.
The hosts grabbed a 3-0 lead inside the first half an hour and never looked back, with a second-half brace to Bradley Lakoseljac putting the result beyond doubt. That result saw them leapfrog the Olympia Warriors into third place with just one round left in the season. The Zebras looked off the pace from the first whistle to the last, and their difficulty in keeping possession allowed South to control the game and attack constantly.
Harry Anderson hit a hat-trick and the Glenorchy Knights defeated Olympia 3-0 at Warrior Park.
On the day the title officially slipped away from them, the Knights nevertheless turned in a good showing away from home with Anderson scoring all three of the sides goals in their second win in a row over the Warriors after snapping a lengthy hoodoo in their previous 2020 league clash.
The first goal came on 13 minutes when Oscar Thomas floated in a ball in that Anderson attacked with verve, getting up to it and producing a wonderful header that lobbed over a stranded Randall and into the back of…
Riverside Olympic secured their second victory of the season in resounding fashion, downing Kingborough 3-0 at Windsor Park and in the process condemning their cross town rivals to the wooden spoon.
The first half saw both sides battling trying conditions, with wind a significant factor and neither side quite able to find anything special in the final third. The Lions shaded the attacking action, but merely had a raft corners to show for it and the scores remained locked at 0-0 to the half time break.
It didn't take long to spark into life in the second half…
Eliane Fader’s lone goal was the point of difference for South Hobart in a close contest against University. The decider arrived at the 10 minute mark after South tore out of the gates early. Crafty defending and a clear at all costs mentality kept University in touching distance throughout but South clung onto victory, despite play opening up in the second half providing opportunities at both ends of the park.
With the early pickings, South showed no hesitation from the kick off. A quick switch of play from midfield, found Fader lurking at the back post. The finish wasn’t there for the…
The Clarence Zebras claimed a comfortable 4-0 win over the Kingborough Lions to ensure the WSL title race would be extended by at least a ew more days. Danielle Kannegiesser struck a brace whilst Allie Berry scored one and created another two in what proved a regulation win in the Safari Derby.

Ulverstone remain the only team in the competition outside of Olympia to take points off Clarence Zebras this season. There’s little doubt the circumstances of the game will stoke hope of a repeat. The Eastern Shore team have secured…
The Olympia Warriors officially sealed the 2020 Women's Super League title in utterly dominant fashion, smashing the Kingborough Lions 10-1 on Wednesday night with Golden Boot winner Bonnie Davies scoring six goals!
The Warriors were at their brilliant best for much of the night, scoring in the opening minute of the game from the first shot, as they dominated the contest and put an exclamation mark on the top of their WSL triumph.
It didn't take long for the Warriors party to begin as Davies raced in behind the defence following a headed flick on from Cane and slammed home her first of the…
A 94th minute scramble in the six yard box saw Mady O'Brien pounce for the latest of match winning goals for her Clarence Zebras side in their midweek matchup with South Hobart.
After dominating the contest and chalking up a 26-7 edge in total shots for the game as well as accruing a host of corners, it appeared it wasn't going to be the Clarence Zebras night.
Frustrated at their inability to convert, and with the title now out of their reach it seemed destined to end at 0-0 before a late corner granted them one final shot.
Burt swung it in, Stalker headed goalwards and McMullen blocked it…
Clarence Zebras prevailed over Ulverstone their Saturday WSL clash with a late Zoe Nichol all that split the two sides. A first half of sussing each other out was followed by a Clarence search and rescue effort to find the back of the net in the second 45. Deep into the match, with just 3 minutes of regular time left the breakthrough against a stubborn purple defence was found.
The match roared to life from kick off. Congestion in front of the Zebras goal was apparent in the early pickings, with Georgia Burt’s firing a hopeful effort from range after being unable to unpick the Red’s…
A 92nd minute winner from Adam Mckeown saw the Kingborough Lions defeating the Olympia Warriors 3-2 to claim a fourth place finish at the expense of their defeated opponents. The last gasp header came after just moments after Anthony Mamic had appeared to have done enough for the Warriors to hold onto fourth with his 89th minute leveler, before Douce set up Mckeown to cap off a wonderful season for the veteran front man.
The Warriors took the lead on 22 minutes when Ben Hamlett forced a turnover wide on the right, fed it through to Callum Brown who drove into…
Riverside Olympic have finished their season on something of a high note, holding South Hobart to a 1-1 draw at Darcy Street.
The visitors took a shock lead early in the first half when Fletcher Fulton fired home, but a Nick Morton strike less than ten minutes later would leave both teams deadlocked for the rest of the afternoon. It was a positive result for a young Roos side, while South would be disappointed not to take all three points after dominating for much of the game.
There were ominous signs early for the visitors as goalkeeper Jarrod Hill was called into action with a trio of…
The Devonport Strikers capped off another incredible NPL TAS campaign in style, downing the Glenorchy Knights 4-1 at KGV on Saturday to ensure they would go through the season undefeated and finish 9 points clear on top of the table.
The first half saw no scoring from either side but the Strikers appeared on a mission to ensure they maintained their unbeaten record and created the best of the chances.
Stone came close early, drawing a good save from Hart before Bidwell smashed a drive from 40 yards out that rattled the upright.
Daniel Syson should've scored the opener just before half time…
The Clarence Zebras ensured their maiden NPL TAS season came to a satisfying conclusion, downing Launceston City 2-0 at Wentworth Park to secure their fourth win of the season. They left it late, scoring twice in the final minutes of the game via a brace from Riley Dillon.
The game appeared destined to end in a scoreless draw as neither side found themselves able to break the stalemate through 88 frustrating minutes before the home side struck late to delight their home supporters.
In the 88th minute Sam Hills took the ball on the left and drilled in a cross in after some lovely build-up…
A goal in the final minute of play wasn’t enough for South Hobart, as Kingborough clung to a 3-2 victory in an entertaining, edge of your seat affair at the den.
Laura Davis’ two goal haul provided the edge for the home side in the first half thought that cushion was soon under threat, after mounting pressure from the restart saw Charlotte Ingram peg one back. Amy Ollington steadied the ship to restore the Lions buffer, only for Pishon Choi to capitalise during a frantic final few minutes to ensure a heart stopping finale.
Early opportunities set the tone of the affair. An intercept…
The Olympia Warriors wound up their triumphant 2020 Women's Super League campaign in the same manner in which they won it, in utterly dominant fashion.
Taking the field for the last time in the WSL season and for the first time since hoisting the trophy, the Warriors rested a few key starters but were still completely untroubled by last place University as they ran out 8-0 winners.
The goals flowed from the opening moments as Olivia Bomford scored in just the third minute and by full time she had chalked up a hat-trick to finish second on the goal scoring charts for the season, an…
