Five Star Davies Sinks Reds
Archived Article
Default

Bonnie Davies took a giant stride towards securing the 2020 Golden Boot award, as she fired in five goals in the Olympia F.C. Warriors huge 8-1 road win over Ulverstone. The Warriors speedster now has 20 goals in just 11 WSL games this season and her Warriors side remain on course to claim the Super League title, as they avoided a potential banana skin game with a thumping victory away to the Reds.

Early promise from a risky approach by Ulverstone was quickly dashed. The Warriors overcame the Reds high press to stamp their authority by the 6th minute. Eyeing off the high line, Innocent…

South Hold Knights To Deal Major Blow To Title Aspirations
Archived Article

The NPL title hopes of the Glenorchy Knights may have been dealt a fatal blow, as a 1-1 draw with South Hobart saw them fall six points behind the league leaders.

On the same day that the first-placed Devonport Strikers squeaked out a narrow win, the Knights struggled to break through South's defence before falling behind to a Kobe Kemp header. Alex Walter levelled the scores just minutes later, but his side couldn't muster a second goal to stay close in the title race. They had a handful of chances, but South goalkeeper Mark Moncur stood tall to earn a point…

The Kingborough Lions have run out resounding 5-2 winners over Clarence Zebras and jumped into third place on the NPL Tas table in the process. Three goals inside the opening twenty minutes of the match set the Lions victory up as the Lions bounced back from their mid Cup disappointment in style.

Selection news for the home side saw only one change with  second choice keeper Jake Hayers starting over regular Lee Mackie after coming on as a substitute for Mackie in the second-half of the midweek Lakoseljac Cup quarter-final making some impressive saves v…

Fader Hat-trick Sinks Bees
Archived Article
Default
A first half hat-trick from Eliane Fader has guided South Hobart to a convincing 5-0 win over University in wet conditions at Darcy Street. Fader struck the opening three goals of the game, capping her treble just before the half time break before Swain and Moutsatsos added second half goals to complete the comfortable win.

It took around 30 minutes for South to eventually break through the University defence, but when they did it seemed to open the floodgates as Fader found the net three times in just fifteen minutes.

Fader's first was probably her best as she met the ball at the top of…

Fox in the Box Puts Strikers On Brink of Three-Peat
Archived Article

A Miles Barnard special led the Devonport Strikers to a come from behind victory against the Clarence Zebras on Saturday afternoon.

A brace to the ‘Fox in the Box’ was enough to cancel out Matthew Pace’s first half strike, as the men from Devonport tighten their grip on another NPL Tasmania title.

The game started with both teams battling for possession before the home side got control of the ball. Chances fell to both Stone and Reynolds, before Denehey and Syson made some good combination play, however it was the visitors who would draw first blood.

The first goal of the game came when…

Austin Yost scored a goal from inside the centre circle, as the Olympia Warriors routed Launceston City 4-0 at Buckby Land Rover Park in their Round 12 NPL clash. Yost's downtown strike was the high point of the second half, but the win was set up in the first, as goals from Brown, Mwarabu and Mamic secured a comfortable win for the Warriors.

It was a pretty dominant showing from the Warriors for most of the afternoon in a game they had wrapped up early on.

On 20 minutes the scoring began when a sloppy turnover at the back presented Mamic with a prime chance at…

Knights Stay Alive With Win Over Roos
Archived Article

It was much a much closer game than the result might suggest, but the Glenorchy Knights kept their NPL Tasmania title hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Riverside Olympic.

After finding themselves on the back foot and outplayed for large portions of the first half, the Knights responded with an impressive second half performance. A deflected shot from Nicholas Naden gave them the lead just past the hour mark before a pair of stoppage-time goals gave them some breathing room late. Riverside had the better of the chances in the first half, but with their key players…

South Escape The Den With 3 points

South Hobart have held off a second half comeback from Kingborough Lions to claim a 3-2 win in a Saturday night thriller at Lightwood Park. South's Bradley Lakoseljac opened the scoring in the first half and Nick Morton picked up a quick brace in the second. Lion's Striker Adam Mckeown was able to score a brace in his own right late on but it was too little too late and South came away with the 3 points.

Selection news saw the home side retain second choice keeper Jake Hayers while set-piece maestro Chris Downes warmed the pine while South named a very strong XI with the only exception being…

Ulverstone Solidify 3rd Place With Win Over South

Ulverstone held their nerve to carry out a 2-1 victory over South Hobart in their Round 12 WSL clash. The first half took a while to get going, but Eli Cropp and Lucy Reimer both notched a goal a piece for a two goal buffer at the break. A comeback was sparked to life early in the second half through Pishon Choi’s finish and the remainder of the match was on a knifes edge, but Ulverstone held on for the win in their final home match of the season.

From kick off, the intensity fit the third position that was at stake. Immediately the match was bogged in midfield, with quick passes, turn-overs…

Lions Jump To Fourth With Win Over Bees

The Kingborough Lions have moved up into fourth place on the Women's Super League table as they ground out a 2-1 win over University at Lightwood Park. Goals from Laura Davis and Paris Menadue either side of a Zoe Lovell strike secured the win, with all the scoring coming inside the opening 45 minutes.

The Lions opening goal came from a set piece on 21 minutes as Bonertz-Benn lobbed one back across the face of goal allowing for Menadue to execute an acrobatic finish from close range.

University were quick to respond however as Zoe Lovell, raced onto a wonderful through ball from Emma Cazaly…

Warriors Beat Zebras To Put One Hand On Title

The Olympia F.C Warriors have all but secured the 2020 Women's Super League title, as they overcame Clarence Zebras 1-0 at Warrior Park to move 8 points clear on top of the table. A lone strike from the competition's leading scorer Bonnie Davies was all that separated the teams, and means an Olympia side who haven't dropped points to any other side in the competition, now just need 4 points from their final three games to officially secure the WSL crown.

Previous 1-0 score lines between the pair during the regular season promised a tight encounter and no-one would leave disappointed. Greek…

Strikers Claim 2020 NPL TAS Title
Archived Article

The Devonport Strikers have claimed the 2020 NPL Tasmania title, as they ground out a 1-0 win over Launceston City to move an unassailable 7 points clear on top of the table.

Raph Reynolds converted from the penalty spot on 70 minutes after Lachie Clark had previously kept them at bay with a trio of fine saves.

But there was to be no denying the Strikers on this day, as they claimed a third successive league title and their fourth in five seasons.

This game might've played out in a familiar manner, with a late strike securing the Devonport win but in truth it would've been wrapped up much…
