The Kingborough Lions secured a third placed finish in the Women's Super League as they rallied back from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw with Clarence Zebras on Wednesday night.
Down two goals inside the opening 20 minutes after goals from Berry and Nichols, a stunning solo goal from Laura Davis provided the spark for the comeback, as Amy Ollington struck just a minute after the restart before a gripping second half that provided plenty of action but no more goals, locking the Lions into third on the table.

A Message from Football Tasmania CEO - Matt Bulkeley
Earlier this week I was privileged to represent the Tasmanian football community in a host city workshop for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
As you are aware the joint Australia and New Zealand bid was successful in their bid to host the 2023 event. Tasmania was a part of this bid and Launceston was put forward as the host city.
The process now is somewhat of ‘a bid within a bid’, as each host city vies to be chosen by FIFA to host matches during the event. This led by each state government – in our case through Events Tasmania. Football…

Match Report
Football Tasmania has welcomed the Government’s increase in its annual operational funding to $500,000 per year, putting the state’s most played sport on par with AFL and cricket.
“On behalf of the entire football community I would like to thank the Government for recognising the benefits the World Game brings to Tasmania and giving football a fair go,” Mr Bulkeley said. “Official Sport Australia statistics show close to 40,000 Tasmanians play football each year, and EMRS polling reveals one-in-five Tasmanian households are directly…
How often have you heard or even said to yourself; ‘what a year 2020 has been’! And with the impact of COVID-19, along with many other challenges thrown our way, how true it is.
It is 235 days since football was suspended due to COVID, and 124 days since football resumed. Last night saw the last of the regular season matches for the 2020 season. And what a finish – Olympia FC Warriors taking out the Southern Men’s Championship title decider in a nail biting finish against University.
I would like to start my wrap up of the season in female football land by extending my gratitude to everyone who has played, coached, managed, volunteered, refereed, supported, sponsored, and administrated in our football family. Without your continued support and engagement we could not have succeeded and we could not have created great achievements in a most challenging time.
With a short rest before pre-season, we can plan our 2021 season and what actions and achievements we would like to see.
Women’s Super League 2021 will have a new look and potentially new teams…
The Glenorchy Knights have booked their spot in the 2020 Lakoseljac Cup Final with a thrilling 3-2 win over South Hobart in an instant cup classic at KGV. South had rallied back from 2-0 down to square the game via Nick Morton on 62 minutes but Thomas Young responded 10 minutes later to secure the Knights progression in one of the most entertaining games of the year.
The opening ten minutes hinted at what was to come, as the ball flowed from end to end with both sides setting out their intentions to attack, albeit neither side could produce a shot in that period.
The Clarence Zebras have qualified for their second Cup final of the year, as they overcame a spirited Kingborough Lions outfit 3-0 at KGV in their Women's Statewide Cup Semi Final. Allie Berry broke the deadlock in the final seconds of the first half before adding another in the second half to seal the win after Danielle Kannegiesser had extended their advantage with her classy volley just past the hour mark.
The opening half hour of the game saw the Clarence Zebras dominating possession but finding the Lions a very stubborn nut to crack. They were parked back deep and doing a good job…
The Glenorchy Knights will take on the Olympia F.C Warriors in the Statewide Under 20 Cup Final next weekend, after both sides booked their spots with victories on Saturday.
The Warriors left it late, as they were forced to come back from a goal down to defeat Riverside Olympic 2-1 at Windsor Park.
Fletcher Fulton handed the Roos a half time lead that held till the 82nd minute but Azel Abdelrahman proved the Warriors saviour when struck twice in the space of three minutes to secure the Warriors spot in the decider.
Knights meanwhile punched their ticket in a goal fest at Cardigan…
Another 2-2 draw between University and Ulverstone has drawn the curtains on the 2020 Women’s Super League season. A long range hit by Michelle Tadros was the sole goal of the opening half, with a flood of goals arriving midway through the second. A penalty apiece was sandwiched by Mikalha George putting the finishing touches on a free kick, leading to a repeat score line from the Round 2 match up between the pair.
University approached the match with a point to prove, dominating the early territory battle. The Bees controlled the middle of the park to limit Ulverstone’s moves forward…
The Olympia Warriors are through to the Lakoseljac Cup final for the first time since 2017 after a thumping 7-0 win over Launceston City.
In glorious sunshine and with strong support from the crowd at Warrior Park, Olympia were far too strong and ran away with the game in the second half. A late penalty to Jake Vandermey was all that separated the two sides at the break, but the home side kicked into gear and quickly buried the game after the restart. It was a balanced performance on the scoresheet, with six goalscorers led by a brace to Callum Brown.
A hearty performance by South Hobart wasn’t enough to deny Olympia their spot in the Women's Statewide Cup Final, as the Warriors producing a convincing 6-0 win in the process. Bonnie Davies starred once again, bagging four goals, as Mia Cane opened and finished the scoring.
Territory and possession held by South Hobart looked good on paper, but the Warriors were simply too good and clinical on the counter attack.
Early nerves were settled quickly for the home side before the heat of South’s high press could reach under the collar. The initial threat arrived barely 2 minutes in by Davies…

Anticipation is building ahead of the 2020 finale for Women's Football in Tasmania on Saturday. The game pits the Olympia Warriors against Clarence Zebras, with both teams head and shoulders above the competition throughout the year. Here's a deeper look of what to expect for the Statewide Cup final.
The Teams
Olympia
The question over how Olympia sets out their defence has been a teasing one all season. Maddie Black and Sophie Leszczynski have been the constants at the heart of things all year, with the revolving door between Monique Pinkiewicz, Charlotte Chambers and Hannah Johnson…
A rematch of the 2017 decider will pit two traditional rivals in Glenorchy Knights and the Olympia Warriors up against each other in Saturday's Lakoseljac Cup Final.
The Knights were the only real challenger to Devonport in the NPL Tasmania title race and whilst they ultimately fell short, they will enter this one as the favourites after finishing three places, and 11 points ahead of the Warriors in the final NPL TAS standings.
The Knights also had the better of the Warriors in their two league clashes, including a comfortable 3-0 win as recently as October 17th.
