Again it was Hill making big saves to keep his side in a game. If he had been fit all season then it would be a hell of a debate between he and Pitchford for the Team of the Year.
RB- Keenan Douce (Kingborough)
Continued his stellar season working hard down the flank and continued his goal scoring form, once again coming in style, with a belter from range.
CB- Jarrod Linger (Launceston City)
Not a typo, the versatile City youngster was thrust into a centre half role on Saturday against South and excelled in the role, sweeping across and using his pace to…
The Kingborough Lions will meet the Hobart Zebras tonight under the lights of Lightwood Park to kick off Round 24 of the NPL Tasmania season, a round that won't quite see the title mathematically sealed with a Devonport victory, but it will be about as good as done should they win.
Both sides will be eager to claim the three points tonight at the Den as they look to finish off the season in style with the league now into its final month. Locked in a tight 3 way battle to finish in fifth place, just one point separates the Lions, Launceston City and Glenorchy Knights. Having been left…
With three weeks remaining in the season, Round 18 of the Women's Super League feels a bit like the calm before the storm in some respects. Both Olympia and Zebras will be warm favourites to take the three points in their games this weekend, whilst the game of the Round will have no bearing on ladder position; with both Kingborough and Ulverstone entrenched in fourth and third respectively.
Yet Olympia will not want to get complacent ahead of their trip to Darcy Street on Saturday against a South Hobart side, who have twice come close to taking points from them. South's recent form suggests…

New Government figures show that of the 5,200 Ticket to Play vouchers issued, 3,079 have been redeemed, with 1095 (35.56% of total) being used to play football. 584 vouchers were used to play football in the south, 252 in the north and 259 in the north-west showing a genuine state-wide interest in the sport.

The Kingborough Lions have defeated the Hobart Zebras 3-2 in a classic at Lightwood Park. Scoreless at half-time, the two teams turned it on in the second half for the fans in attendance. Keenan Douce continued his goal scoring form, scoring his 3rd long range goal in 3 weeks to seal the win for the Lions in the 84th minute.
The game almost had it's first goal early on when Thomas Little nearly conceded a horrid own goal following a cross from Brayton Allan. Little attempted to smash it away but his clearance came off wrong and banged off the post!
The Olympia Warriors produced a dominant performance against South Hobart in the WSL on Saturday afternoon at Darcy Street, running out nine-nil winners to remain well and truly in the title race.
The Warriors started the day equal on points with title contenders Hobart Zebras, knowing that they must not slip-up against a South Hobart side that has troubled them in recent games.
The early stages showed that Olympia wouldn’t let the pressure get to them, keeping the ball confidently and creating numerous chances it looked as though it would only be a matter of time before the favourites…
Ulverstone scored a 4-3 victory over Kingborough Lions at Lightwood Park to securing them third place on the table. It was goal-for-goal all match as Ulverstone opened and closed the scoring in a see-sawing affair where Georgia Foote scored twice to get the visitors the win.
Despite the Lions lining up without Zoe Horgan who has joined the Tusculum University's Soccer Program in the US, they started the brighter with Emile Tatton threatening twice in the opening five minutes. She found herself in a good position in the third and the fourth minute however her first attempt was off target to…
They led from the game's 20-second mark, and the Glenorchy Knights never looked back from there in a comprehensive 3-0 win over Launceston City. An early goal to Nic Naden had Launceston on the back foot from the first whistle and set the tone for the Knights to cruise to a victory that tightens their grip on fifth place in the NPL TAS.
Lining up without star midfielder-turned-defender Jarrod Linger, City looked shaky throughout and struggled to win or maintain possession across the park. Glenorchy were led from the front by the tireless running of Alex Leszczynski, and their constant…
The Devonport Strikers are now just a point away from hoisting the 2019 NPL TAS title, as they downed Riverside Olympic 4-2 on Saturday at Valley Road.
The result means they can officially seal the title on Wednesday night in front of their home fans when they meet the Roos for a second time in 4 days; in a catch up of their previously postponed fixture.
The scoring started on 15 minutes when Eddie Bidwell received the ball on right and crossed for a lurking Miles Barnard who made mistake from close range to open proceedings.
Barnard then doubled his tally, moving with 3 goals of Mathew…
South Hobart have produced a dominant display at Darcy Street, downing Clarence 13-1 on Sunday.
A six-goal haul from Ben Hamlett, along with doubles to Nick Morton and Sam Tooze helped the home side’s tally, with singles to Kurdistan, Gorrie and Lakoseljac helping to round out the convincing victory.
South started on the front foot with Hamlet, Herweynen and Kurdistan looking dangerous. Nick Morton and Kobe Kemp produced a great one two, before Nicholas Downham was forced into action to deny Morton’s shot, however not long after South found a breakthrough.
It was a tough day at the office for an undermanned Clarence United team, as they were thumped 18-1 by the Hobart Zebras at KGV.
Facing the Women's Super League leaders without the bulk of their regular starters and with star goalkeeper Amelia Vanderniet among those missing, Clarence were simply outmatched across the park. The Zebras were led by five goals each to Allie Berry and Zoe Nichols, while a superb strike from Alice Herbert provided the lone highlight for the visitors. The result sees the Zebras remain level on points with the Olympia Warriors but sends them further ahead on goal…
The Devonport Strikers will be looking to wrap up the 2019 NPL Tasmania title tonight when they host Riverside Olympic at Valley Road.
The Strikers are just one point away from making certain of their title triumph, meaning a draw is all they need as they prepare to host the Roos for the second time in a week in a rearranged fixture, originally scheduled for Round 15.
The sides played out an enthralling 4-2 game on Saturday and despite forecasts of inclement weather, Wednesday bodes well for another entertaining encounter.
The title would be Devonport's third triumph in four seasons, a…
Just three weeks now remain in the NPL TAS season, and with the Champions hoisting the trophy on Wednesday night, it's just the minor places that now need to be settled.
It will be fourth v fifth on Saturday when the Hobart Zebras take on the Glenorchy Knights at KGV. The two traditional rivals will meet for the third and final time this season having played out two tight battles already this season. The first clash was a 2-2 draw before the Zebras edged out the second game 2-1, demonstrating there is not much between the pair and we should be in for another close one.
Just two weeks remain in the 2019 Women's Super League season and with the prospect of a final day decider between the Warriors and Zebras still looming, both sides need to pass just one more obstacle to get there.
For the Hobart Zebras the equation is simple, win against South Hobart on Sunday and they hold the cards heading into the final day of the season. With a +17 goal differential advantage, they will need just a draw from the final day if they can secure maximum points this week.
Given the high likelihood of the Zebras doing that, a draw is probably going to be as good as a win for…
