Riverside Olympic have Northern supremacy in the NPL after downing Launceston City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The home side opened the scoring through an unorthodox Ryan Mccaragher strike, before Noah Mies equalised for the visitors less than ten minutes later. A 52nd minute Chris Waderman rocket proved to be the difference, as the team from Windsor Park beat their cross-town rival for the second time this season.
The game kicked off with an early Scott Murray shot, before Noah Mies hit a header into Jarrod Hill’s hands not long after, and it wasn’t long before…
The Hobart Zebras claimed a 3-0 win over the Kingborough Lions to move into first position on the Super League ladder. Defensive discipline was a major feature of this match, with both sides putting in the hard work to keep their opponents at bay. Whilst space was a rare commodity, it was the Zebras who could best capitalise on their opportunities and looked the more dangerous in the final third. The experience of the away side ensured they went home with a 3-0 victory.
In the opening exchanges, both sides were keen to test out their opponents. The Lions looked to get play chugging through…
Clarence United have moved from the foot of the Women's Super League table with a 2-0 win over South Hobart at Wentworth Park.
With the game locked at 0-0 at the half and a tight battle developing, goals from their star players Mady O'Brien and Zara Dixon secured the victory that sees Clarence leapfrog South into fifth place in the table.
A brace from Matthew Pace ensured the Hobart Zebras defeated traditional rivals for the first time this NPL season, running out 4-2 winners at Warrior Park on Sunday to all but end Olympia’s title hopes.
The Zebras last trip to the eastern shores plastic pitch ended in a 3-1 defeat and a performance that coach David Smith labelled their worst of the season, so it's fair to say they were out for some redemption.
The Zebras started like they had something to prove; but just four minutes in disaster struck when Samuel Whatman received a back-pass, with his first touch being heavy and inviting…

Mr Gordon said that the meeting was positive and outlined a potential way forward to the ultimate goal of Tasmania having its own A-League team.
“The meeting was very important in providing us with some…

A quality performance from Anderson as she produced a clean sheet in a high stakes game including a penalty save.

Defended stoutly and limited the danger that came from the Warriors flank that is so often where the damage is done. Also pushed on and got involved in the attack.
CB- Kayla Mason (Hobart Zebras)
Her customary tough tackling self at the back, setting the tone and using her superb closing speed to shut down the Lions mobile attack.

An absolute rock in defence and scored a crucial goal…

We have entered the final month of the NPL Tasmania season, and whilst the title race is now all but settled the jostling for the rest of the ladder positions is heating up.
The Strikers will look to take a step closer to mathematically sealing the title when they host the Glenorchy Knights at Valley Road. The Strikers have handled them comfortably in both their previous meetings, dispatching them 4-0 at Valley Road and then 5-2 in a wildly entertaining game at KGV. The Knights have gotten back on track with a pair of wins from their past two games, although coming against the competitions…
It's a case of another week, another big game for the Hobart Zebras, as they prepare to tackle Ulverstone on Saturday afternoon at KGV in the Women's Super League. Their meeting with the Reds is the highlight of a catch up weekend in the WSL and the last of what loomed as a defining four week stretch of games for the Zebras. They've emerged thus far with 2 wins and a draw from those games, which coupled with the Warriors slip up last weekend, means they now sit on top due to their superior goal difference.
Both the Warriors and Zebras have four games left, with one of those the final day…
The Olympia Warriors have kept the pressure on at the top of the Women's Super League table with a dominant 7-0 win over Clarence.
The result was never in question at Warrior Park, with the size of the final margin the only thing left in doubt after a stunning early blitz from the home side. Amy Prokopiec netted a hat-trick inside 15 minutes and finished with five goals, but she and the Warriors may still be left to rue a plethora of missed opportunities as goal difference looms as a factor in the title race.
Olympia had their first corner and first shot in the game's opening minute, and…
The Olympia Warriors have overcome a shaky start against last-placed Clarence United to claim a comfortable 4-1 win at Warrior Park.
Needing a win to keep the pressure on ladder leaders Devonport, the Warriors fell behind early thanks to a stunning goal from Clarence's Sam Randall. But goals from Jono Ladic and Jack Ryan stole the lead back just minutes later, and they proved far too strong as they ran away with the contest. Ryan finished with three goals and looked dangerous throughout, whilst Joffrey Nkoso and Jake Vandermey both hit the scoreboard in a strong showing.
The Devonport Strikers have moved a step closer to defending their NPL Tasmania title, as they accounted for the Glenorchy Knights 3-1 at Valley Road on Saturday. Goals from Syson, Bidwell and Barton secured the victory, despite George Hallard getting the Knights back on terms with his first half header.

Launceston City and South Hobart played out a 2-2 draw at Buckby Land Rover Park in Saturday evening's NPL TAS clash. City headed into the sheds at the half time break holding onto a 1-0 lead which came through Lindsay Millington just before the whistle, but a second-half fightback from South meant they would be travelling back down the Midlands Highway with one point rather than none.
City's intentions seemed clear from kick-off, with the home side looking to press the visitors and not allow South to play through them. A bold tactic was employed by City coach Lino Sciulli, as he chose to…
The Hobart Zebras have inched closer towards the Super League title by sealing a nervy win over Ulverstone. Second half goals by the dynamic duo of Zoe Nichols and Allie Berry proved to be the difference on a day where Ulverstone struggled to convert their chances.
The grey and gloomy weather seemed the perfect setting to the defensive masterclass on show in the first half. Much like last weekend against the Warriors, Ulverstone hit the pitch with a master plan. This time in implementing a high line that Harry High Pants would be proud of, while keeping speedsters Lucy Reimer and…
Riverside Olympic and the Kingborough Lions have played out a 1-1 draw at Windsor Park in their Round 23 NPL TAS clash. The result leaves the Lions in the logjam from 4th to 7th and they will rue missed chances to have jumped up to fifth.
Keenan Douce finally found a long awaited breakthrough for the Lions with his long range stunner on 80 minutes having been kept at bay by star keeper Jarrod Hill up till that point.
But having finally broke through, the Lions failed to hold onto their lead as Ryan McCarragher teed up Chris Wademan to fire home the leveler. The Englishmen has been in red…
