Glenorchy Knights produced a solid defensive display to overcome the Hobart Zebras 2-1 at KGV on Saturday afternoon in what was another tight affair between the two sides.
Going into the clash the Zebras sat in fourth; ten points ahead of the fifth place Knights, meaning it was mathematically impossible for the Knights to leapfrog them.
But there was motivation for the Knights, as they had drawn and lost narrowly to their opponents and would be looking to get one back.
The Knights were dealth an early blow pre-game, as key midfielder Declan Brown went down with a knock in the warm-up and…
A dominant first half by Ulverstone left little room for Clarence to mount a fight back, as the home side wound up comfortable 8-0 victors. The Foote sisters pulled out a vintage performance, sharing four goals between them, as Ulverstone proved relentless in the early showing. While Clarence found their feet midway through the second half, the side struggled to gain much ground beyond quality defensive clearances.
From the outset, Ulverstone were out with a game plan. Switch the play quickly, use the flanks and shoot low and hard. Two parts of the plan proved a headache for the oppositions…
The Olympia F.C Warriors were too strong for the Kingborough Lions, as they comfortably accounted for them 5-0 in their Round 19 Super League clash at Warrior Park. The Warriors took the lead early on and never looked troubled, as they set the stage for next week's title decider with the Hobart Zebras.
Entering them game knowing they needed just a point, all three were clearly on the agenda for the Warriors, who bossed the first half and controlled the midfield battle.
Madi Chambers was once again looming as the major threat and it was no surprise when she opened the scoring on 20 minutes,…
There was no need for last minute heroics this time around, as the Olympia Warriors powered to a comfortable 3-0 win over the Kingborough Lions at Warrior Park. A first half goal and assist from Jack Ryan helped secure the win, in a scrappy game that the Warriors controlled for the most part.
The Warriors started the stronger and nearly took the lead when Lucas Hill had time and space in the area, but his shot was denied by Smithies-Sharples getting back to make a vital goal line clearance.
Jordan Scott was highly influential in midfield and he came close unlocking…

The Hobart Zebras are Women’s Super League champions after goals from Allie Berry and Jesse Williams saw them fight back from a goal down to defeat the Olympia Warriors 2-1 in their final day showdown.
The Warriors had the Zebras on the ropes for much of the first half, producing a captivating performance but couldn’t find a goal to show for it. A pearl of a goal in the second half from an Olivia Bomford free kick, finally provided them the lead. However Allie Berry produced a lifeline soon after with a quickfire response, before Jessie Williams put the icing on top of the Zebras 2-1…
The independent tribunal has tonight overturned the decision by Football Tasmania to deem the Olympia F.C Warriors NPL Tasmania fixture v South Hobart on Friday 19 July a forfeit.
Football Tasmania had previously adjudged that Olympia F.C Warriors had been found to have breached Competition Rule 22.3 by fielding an ineligible player in their National Premier Leagues Tasmania game against South Hobart on Friday 19 July.

A Noah Mies hat-trick fired Launceston City to a comfortable 4-1 win over Clarence United at Wentworth Park but it was Jackson Ebini who provided the highlight of the day with a stunning solo goal.
In a difficult day conditions wise for players, it was a fairly scrappy first 30 minutes in the high winds that were blowing across Wentworth Park.
But City took the lead within the opening 10 minutes, Isaac Degetto charging down the right before squaring it back to Noah Mies. The Striker took a touch to steady himself before firing home an unstoppable shot to get his side off and running.…
The Hobart Zebras have set up a showdown with Olympia for the 2019 Women’s Super League title after downing South Hobart 10-0 at Darcy Street on Sunday.
The league leaders piled the pressure on the home side, with three goals to Allie Berry and a double to both Georgia Burt and Zoe Nichols helping the visitors to a convincing win.
Whilst the Zebras were clear favourites going into the contest it was South Hobart who had a fantastic opening chance. It came after Ingram traveled down the left, played the ball to Djakic who then played the ball across the box to Choi, however the number 17…
It took them over an hour to find the breakthrough goal but eventually South Hobart overcame Riverside 3-0 in Sunday afternoon NPL TAS action.
Having been held to a 0-0 draw by the Northerners in a meeting earlier this season, it seemed like history may have been repeating, as South struggled to find the opening goal in the game.
Despite dominating the first half, the goal would not come for South as a combination of the woodwork and some stellar Jarrod Hill goalkeeping conspired to deny them. Three times they hit the post in a half that saw them out shoot their opponents 13-1, but with…
A broken leg to South Hobart captain Nick Morton overshadowed a 1-1 draw between South Hobart and Kingborough Lions on Wednesday night at KGV. Playing in a catch up game from earlier in the season, Samuel Berazansky struck an equaliser to cancel out Jack Turner's opener, in a grind of a game that will see the South skipper's campaign come to a premature end.
Chances and space were at a premium early on in the game, but it was the Lions who had started the brighter and looked to be largely in control, despite not creating a host of scoring looks.
Cue the blaring 1980's Synth track, because we have reached the Final Countdown on the 2019 Women's Super League season. Saturday, 2:00pm at KGV the Warriors and Zebras will meet to determine the Super League crown.
With both teams level on 47 points each as they prepare to meet in the last game of the season, we have a quasi grand final scenario. The Zebras superior goal difference gives them the edge heading into the decider as they need just a draw to secure the title on that basis. To win the league Olympia would have to win the game, though that is something they have managed twice in…
The finish line is near as we hit the final fortnight of the 2019 NPL Tasmania season, as the seasons winds to its conclusion, the title race may well be done, but the individual awards are still being fought for and in particular the Golden Boot race comes into sharp focus.
The race for top scorer has gone right down to the wire this season, with Miles Barnard and Mathew Sanders currently locked on 27 goals apiece. Barnard memorably hit eight the last time the Reds met Clarence, so this is a great chance for him to pull away when the Strikers meet the Reds on the Sunday. Devonport will be…
The Kingborough Lions dominated from start to finish in a convincing 6-0 win at Lightwood Park today. Mia Cane and Laura Davis proved too much for the visiting Clarence side as they scored five goals between them in an offensive masterclass.
In the final round of WSL action all eyes were on KGV as the Warriors and Zebras battled out a title decider however Kingborough put on a show of their own as Cane opened the scoring just nine minutes into the match. She took possession on the left flank and cut inside before unleashing a powerful effort past the outstretched arms of Vanderniet. Cane's…

Ulverstone have finished their Super League season with a comprehensive 6-2 win over South Hobart at home. The 2018 champions clicked into gear in the second half, breaking a game that had been locked up at 2-2, wide open in the second half to secure the three points.
Danielle Mitchell hit the back of the net twice, whilst Amy Bissett, Lucy Foote, Jazmin White and Tiela Weeda also scored in the victory. Niki Moutatsos and former Ulverstoen striker, Phoebe Djakic, scored for South.
The win leaves Ulverstone with a 12-2-6 record for the season, a total of 38 points that will see them finish…
A brace from Mathew Sanders has sent him two goals clear in the Golden Boot race and helped fired Hobart Zebras to a comfortable 4-0 win over Launceston City. In the final Italian Derby of the season, two goals from Sanders, including one in the final minute of the game, as well as goals from Jayden Hey and Nicky Edwards secured the victory as the Zebras cruised past their Northern rivals.
Braces from English duo, Jordan Scott and Jack Ryan have secured a 4-2 win for the Olympia Warriors over Riverside Olympic on Saturday afternoon at Windsor Park.
The pair were on song in the first half as they raced out to a 3-0 lead by the break, and despite an improved second half showing, with goals from Wademan and Sanz cutting the lead to 3-2, Jack Ryan slammed the door shut in the dying moments with his second goal of the game.
