A long range lob from Eddie Bidwell has ensured the Devonport Strikers remain a perfect 4 wins from 4 games as they accounted for South Hobart 1-0 at Valley Road. The defending Champions found the South defence a tough nut to crack, but eventually Bidwell produced the game's lone goal when he caught out Moncur with his opportunistic lobbed effort from 25 yards.
The opening 25 minutes of the game consisted largely of Devonport peppering the South Hobart penalty area with a series of set pieces. Six early corners as well as a pair of free kicks saw the South…
The Olympia Warriors claimed their first points of the NPL Tasmania season as they easily dealt with Riverside Olympic, running out resounding 5-1 winners at Warrior Park on Saturday. The Warriors have been dominant in their previous meeting with Olympic at Warrior Park and it was a familiar script this time around, as their big attacking guns picked apart the visitors defence to kick start their season.
The first major chance of the game fell to the hosts when Wadawu's cross found Declan Brown in space at the back post but he couldn't keep his header down. It set the tone for the first half…
The Glenorchy Knights have made it 3 wins on the bounce as a Thomas Young hat-trick helped fire them to a 5-2 win over Clarence Zebras. After going behind to an early Matt Pace strike, the Knights attack ran rampant, as Young hit the back of the net three times in a glistening attacking display.
The match started with all the pressure and forward play being driven by Knights with the Zebras more than happy to sit back and wait for opportunity.
That opportunity came knocking in the 10th minute when Knight's defender Jack Bowman mistimed his pass and handed the ball to Zebras forward Matthew…
Ulverstone produced a surprise on Saturday afternoon as they held the presumptive Super League front runners Clarence Zebras to a 1-1 draw in their Round 4 clash.
In a repeat of Clarence’s last outing the opener came via an early penalty however that’s where the similarities finished. Ulverstone played as a team with a cheat sheet on how to stop a free-scoring Zebras bagging a goal in open play whilst looking threatening in attack themselves.
Both teams set out with a shuffle to their starting XI's from their Round 3 games. Odette Carpenter slotted into centre back for Ulverstone…

Time for a fair go for football in 2020/21 State Budget
A fairer level of State Government funding which more accurately represents the World Game’s position as Tasmania’s most played team sport sits top of Football Tasmania’s State Budget wish list.
Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said it was time for a fair go for football as the peak body for soccer launched its revised 2020/21 State Budget submission in Launceston today.
“Football Tasmania has made a submission regarding the 2020-21 budget, which outlines the areas we believe are key to ensuring the state’s most played and fastest…
South Hobart have claimed their second WSL win in as many weeks, with a 7-2 demolition of the Kingborough Lions strengthening their claims for a place in the league's top three.
What shaped as a mid-table battle quickly turned into a one-sided rout, as South stunned the Lightwood Park crowd with another impressive attacking display. Niki Moutsatsos was the star with a hat-trick completed just after half time, and she was ably supported in the forward third by Phoebe Djakic and Eliane Fader. An injury to Phoebe Clifford rounded out a horror afternoon for the Lions, who have now lost their…
The Olympia Warriors unleashed the smack down on University as they moved to the top of the Super League after 4 rounds with a thumping 9-0 win at Warrior Park on Sunday.
The Warriors brilliant midfield duo of Olivia Bomford and Inocent Michael again did the bulk of the damage, as Bomford continued her red hot form as she hit a hat-trick (and maybe a fourth), whilst Michael bagged two of the games first 3 goals. The Warriors had a 2-0 lead inside the first five minutes of the game as they bossed the contest from start to finish to secure top spot on the table after 4 weeks.

The red-hot Glenorchy Knights will take their first northern road trip of the 2020 season in round five, where they will meet a Riverside Olympic side still smarting from a heavy defeat last week. After a thrilling derby win over Launceston City, Riverside came crashing back to earth with a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of the…
South Hobart and Ulverstone were forced to settle for a point apiece, as they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in their Saturday afternoon Super League clash at Darcy Street. Eliane Fader continued her red hot form as she opened the scoring on 12 minutes but a penalty converted by Eli Cropp midway through the second half halted the hosts bid to register a third consecutive victory.
The opening sparring produced a nervy affair. Neither team was able to stamp their authority on the match early, with South perhaps holding the edge with territory. Early scrambling defensive efforts appeared…
For 82 scoreless minutes the Devonport Strikers toiled away against a resolute Clarence Zebras line up before finally breaking through late on to secure a 2-0 win and maintain top spot on the table. Substitute Todd Hingston fired home after a set piece fell to him in the box, before Brody Denehey made sure of the result 90 seconds later as the Strikers made it five wins from their opening five games.
It was a damp and windy Wentworth Park that greeted the players and that combined with the heavy pitch made for an incredibly scrappy affair.
The Glenorchy Knights continued their strong run of form as they registered a fourth win on the bounce with a 2-0 win over Riverside Olympic at Windsor Park. Goals from Nicholas Naden and Joffrey Nkoso secured the result as they moved up into second spot on the NPL Tasmania table, three points behind the leaders Devonport.
The game was delayed due to the Knights bus breaking down en route, but it would prove to be the only hiccup on the day as they put in a polished display to claim the three points to take back down the…
A brace from Jack Ryan has secured the Olympia Warriors their second win of the season, as they accounted for Launceston City 2-1 at Warrior Park. The English marksman opened the scoring with a close range header in the first minute of the game before doubling his tally from the penalty spot in the first half. After squandering a host of chances to extend their lead in the second half, the Warriors were made to sweat it late on when Alex Rossetto pulled one back for City with his back post volley but it was too little too late for the visitors who remain rooted to the foot of the table.
It was a clinical performance from South Hobart on Sunday, as they emphatically ended Kingborough's undefeated run with a 5-0 drubbing in wet and wild conditions at KGV.
A late change of venue due to heavy rain wasn't enough to unsettle the "hosts" as they broke through the Lions defence just before half-time and killed off the contest early in the second half. It was a virtuoso performance from South's Nick Morton, with the star midfielder opening the scoring for South and playing a hand in almost every attacking move for his side. The Lions would have fancied themselves as title contenders…

Riverside Olympic utility Aaron Campbell is set to become the first player to reach the 150 game milestone mark in the NPL Tasmania when he lines up against South Hobart this weekend.
The record takes into account fixtures played since the move to a new look Statewide competition in 2013, following the formation of the then called Victory League.
During the eight seasons since that shift, Campbell has proved a model of consistency and an ultra reliable player for his coaches by only missing six games in that entire time.
He has spent time at two of Launceston's clubs, initially playing…
