The Olympia Warriors took care of business against Beachside to run out 9-0 victors and advance to the Statewide Cup Semi Finals. As expected the WSL powerhouse were far too strong for their Championship counterparts, as they raced to a 7-0 half time lead, before cruising home to book their Semi Final ticket.
The damage was done early on, as the explosive Warriors frontline used their pace and skill to get in behind the Beachside defensive lines. They simply had no answer to the threat from out wide, as Davies and Chambers wreaked havoc.
Chambers opened the scoring from one of the games…

Football Tasmania CEO, Matt Bulkeley, said that football has the highest participation rate of any team sport in northern Tasmania and the commitments from both Labor and the Liberals reflected that.
“It’s encouraging to see that both major political parties recognise that football is by far the biggest team sport in Tasmania. While other sports are having trouble finding enough players to put on the ground, football’s biggest challenge is finding enough grounds for all of…

The two Super League giants attacked back and forth for the opening 20 minutes until Kannegeiser scored the opening goal. The Zebras attacker pounced on the end of a through ball and though Anderson attempted to clear, the effort ricocheted off Kannegeisser who was…

The Strikers have an 8-1-1 NPL record to date to sit on top of the ladder, two points ahead of Olympia with a 7-2-1 record. So they will enter Saturday's clash on 25 points, with Olympia close behind on 23, meaning the Warriors can pass them with a victory.

After a week off for the Cup, the WSL returns with a trio of games in Round 8 of the season.
In the first game of the weekend, Hobart Zebras will take on Clarence United in a midday kick off at KGV. The Zebras seem to be building into the season well and whilst the final scoreline of 5-1 did rather flatter them against Ulverstone last week, they are showing signs they are starting to click. They are still playing patches of games rather than a full 90 minutes, but some of those periods within games have been truly devastating. Nichols, Berry, Hulton and Kannegiesser provide some major…

The game started with an early Zebras attack, with the ball falling straight into the arms of Clarence keeper Amelia Vanderneit. This was followed up by great through balls from Burt, Nichols and Berry, before the Zebras found the early breakthrough they were looking for.
The Kingborough Lions overcame a plucky Ulverstone side 4-2 in a very attacking WSL affair at the Den on Saturday afternoon to jump above the northerners and into fourth spot on the table.
Both Kingborough and Ulverstone had only managed to pick up two wins out of their six and five games respectively so both teams would have looked at this fixture as a good chance to pick up all three points.
The match quickly began to reflect this as both teams pushed hard and showed some quality attacking play as they looked to break the deadlock.
Kingborough’s Samantha Watkins looked up for it early…
The Devonport Strikers have moved five points clear on top of the NPL TAS table, securing a huge 2-1 win over the Olympia Warriors. Joel Stone scored another long range stunner to hand his side the lead and Max Fitzgerald doubled it early in the second half. Joffrey Nkoso pulled one back for the hosts, but it wouldn’t be enough.
Four goals from Mathew Sanders has fired the Hobart Zebras to a 6-1 win over Clarence. The competitions leading marksman continued his domination against the Reds to skip well clear in the Golden Boot race and lead his side to a needed 3 points.
The Glenorchy Knights survived a spirited late rally from Riverside to claim a 4-2 win. A superb first half performance saw the Knights surge to a 3-0 lead and the result didn’t look in any doubt before two late strikes gave the Roos hope. A stoppage time penalty from Declan Brown then put the result beyond doubt as they got back on the winners list.
