The Clarence Zebras will be looking to kick off their new era with silverware but standing in their way are the defending Summer Cup champion Olympia Warriors, as they prepare to meet in Saturday's Women's Summer Cup Final.
Having stormed through the group stage with a minimal fuss dispatching University 15-0 and Taroona 8-0, the new entity in Clarence Zebras will face a much sterner test in the decider but will still go in as the hot favourites to make it a perfect start following the amalgamation of the Hobart Zebras and Clarence United that was made official last November.
The Olympia Warriors survived a stirring fightback from South Hobart to claim a 4-3 win in the Summer Cup Final at KGV. Jack Ryan fired in a first half hat-trick to have the Warriors seemingly cruising to victory before South came roaring back to level the match at 3-3 in a stunning second half response. But the Warriors would do just enough to win, as Jackson Khasif fired home a stoppage time winner to secure the victory for the Warriors in a pulsating game.
After 30 minutes of play, the game had looked over. Jack Ryan had run completely rampant up top and fired in a classy hat-trick,…
The Clarence Zebras kicked off their new era in the best possible manner, downing the Olympia Warriors 4-1 to claim the Summer Cup.
A hat-trick from Zoe Nichols helped deliver the win for the new club, as they dominated the contest and completely controlled the second half in a powerful performance.
The Zebras took the lead on 14 minutes when Nichols picked the pocket of Haralampopoulos and crossed for Isabella Ferrier, who rolled home the opening goal into the bottom corner of the net.

This decision has been made on the advice of the experts and is to protect both our participants and the broader community from the threat of COVID-19. Continuing with the usual football related activities risks spreading the infection further to those in the community who are vulnerable. As the State’s largest participation sport, we have a social responsibility to be part of the community response to help slow the virus down and help our health systems to cope by flattening the curve.

But that doesn’t mean we should give up on football in 2020.
I would like take this opportunity to reassure the Tasmanian…

I write to let you know about two recent changes to the Football Tasmania Board. Mark Jefferson, who was first elected as a Director in February 2017, recently accepted a role based in Brisbane, with his current employer, SIMS Metal group. He was a member of the FT Board Competitions Sub-Committee and he has provided great insights and ideas…
